ALVIN GRIMES- AUTHOR
Alvin Grimes was born on April 24th, 19 bla-bla-bla, in Detroit MI.
For the first eleven years of his life his mother and he enjoyed a Bedouin-like existence, "enjoyed" because, unlike a weaker child, who would be basket case at this point in their life, Alvin found it to be a rather exhilarating roller coaster ride.
A precocious attraction towards the opposite sex combined with a fascination for all things weird and fantastic, and always being the "new kid on the block" meant that Alvin spent a lot of time "living in my head." Like many young boys, he spent most of his time watching horror movies and reading comic books...especially Marvel Comic books.
As he grew older his tastes broadened to authors such as Kipling, London, Poe and Homer. Later on he discovered Burroughs, Tolkien and my favorite, Robert E. Howard.
Alvin pursued a musical career in the hard rock genre for over thirteen years. During this time, he moved to Hollywood and wrote. He wrote short stories, poetry and novels, which developed erectile dysfunctions after the first eight chapters. One day the band broke up and his desire to play was broken with it. Not knowing what else to do with himself, Alvin began to write.
Black Pearl is the first of five novels that will chronicle the adventures of Jackson Blaze. Blaze is the kind of hero Alvin wishes he could have embraced along with Conan, Tarzan, Legolas, Shaft, Luke Cage and Bond.
In his life, Jackson Blaze has been many things: hustler, prizefighter, leg breaker, and decorated war hero. Upon returning home from World War I to his adopted home of Harlem, New York, he finds himself in the middle of a war between gangster boss Jimmy Rose and the Jewish Mafia for control of Harlem's lucrative underworld. After recruiting a handful of his Army comrades to aid him, Jackson wages guerrilla warfare against some of the toughest hoods in New York City. As if he doesn't have enough to worry about, he also finds himself in a passionate love affair with the beautiful and mysterious dancer known only as Tamara. When the stakes are life and death, the slightest mistake could spell disaster. If he has any hope of survival, Jackson must decide to follow his head or his heart. BLACK PEARL by Alvin Grimes is a thriller set in the heyday of Classic Pulp Tales, but delivered with a hard hitting modern voice. Two fisted, double barreled action at its best—BLACK PEARL by Alvin Grimes From Pro Se Productions.
