MIKE FYLES-ARTIST
Mike Fyles was born in South Wales, went to school in Oxfordshire, then Kent, and graduated in the North of England. He has lived in a number of English towns and cities and currently resides in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire. Mike has earned his living primarily as a teacher. During the last decade however he has been able to produce more work as an illustrator, particularly for publishers of New Pulp in North America. The reputation of his work on The Green Lama, and with the Pulp Obscura series at Pro Se publishers also provided him the opportunity to produce cover art for Marvel Comics. Mike favours, for influence, the commercial illustration of the mid 20th Century that was produced to promote story telling in books (which included children's annuals, and pulps), magazines and comics. His aim is to produce illustrations that unite the writer's and reader's interpretation.
