I. A. WATSON CONTINUES DOWN THE ROAD TO BYZANTIUM IN LATEST PRO SE SINGLE SHOT SIGNATURE RELEASE- STONE AND FIRE!

Pro Se

Award Winning Author I. A. Watson, one of the most prolific voices in New Pulp, returns readers to a world of history of fantasy, one marred with magic, monsters, and mystery in the second chapter his exclusive original Pro Se Single Shot Signatures Series-Byzantium.

Byzantium,” says Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief of and Partner in Pro Se Productions, “is a digital single series and story with a lot of things woven into it.  It’s a wonderful ensemble fantasy story, almost quest like in many ways, that is rife with action, humor, and characters you either love or love to hate.  The plot has enough twists to keep even the most sophisticated reader desperate to see what comes next and the character development is top notch.  This is possibly the best work Mister Watson has done to date.”

In a world where Christianity never arose to sweep away the old magics, where sorcerer-guilds and necromancer-kings rule amidst the Roman ruins, Kirkgrim the Wanderer joins a caravan train across war-torn wasteland to the world's most corrupt city. The reluctant hero finds himself trapped with travelers, refugee orphans, deserter soldiers, a beautiful hunted sorceress, and one mad viking, amidst civil war, religious zealots, brutal reavers, and a growing zombie army - guarding a secret that could bring the last vestiges of civilization crashing down in flames.

In Byzantium Book Two: Stone and Fire, the caravan encounters death and destruction at the hands of bandits and the undead, desperate and possibly traitorous Imperial soldiers, a decimated bridge, and a battle between two elemental giants that very well could spell the end of the caravan, even with the holy Kirkgrim the Wanderer as its protector.

Byzantium Book Two: Stone and Fire features epic cover art and logo design by Jeff Hayes and eBook formatting by Russ Anderson.   The second digital single in I. A. Watson’s series is available for the Kindle for only 99 cents at  http://tinyurl.com/ns9ddwg and for most digital formats via Smashwords at http://tinyurl.com/nj4f2zl.

PRO SE ANNOUNCES OPEN CALL FOR TWO SERIES FEATURING CON CELEBRITY PETER PIXIE!

Pro Se

In late 2014, Pro Se Productions, a cutting edge publisher of New Pulp and Genre Fiction, announced two new series being added to its 2015 schedule.  Both series feature a character newly licensed to Pro Se, that of Peter Pixie, a popular Convention Master of Ceremonies and performer.  Today, Pro Se Productions announces open calls for submissions for both series The Adventures of Peter Pixie and Peter Pixie: Mayor of the Multiverse.

The entertainer known as Peter Pixie has worked in the Convention business since the 1980s.  He has been everything from volunteer to Convention Chair.  His love of conventions and all those people crazy enough to throw them truly shines through now that he serves as a Master of Ceremonies for numerous conventions, as well as other events.

As a professional Master of Ceremonies, he has had the honor and distinct pleasure of participating in some amazing events all round the country.  Peter is a natural born entertainer.  During times he is on stage he owns it and makes everyone happy they are there - the audience, guests, staff - every one! When not on stage, Peter goes to autograph lines to interact and entertain the attendees so they will not feel like they are attending a 'Line Con.’ He also mingles with attendees all weekend ensuring everyone is having a good time.

“The concepts for these series,” says Tommy Hancock, Partner in and Editor in Chief of Pro Se, “is really wonderful.   Although The Adventures of Peter Pixie will be aimed at a more general audience and Peter Pixie: Mayor of the Multiverse will be a YoungPulp! title, both intertwine with one another and the stories will share the same message, while being full of action and adventure.  It’s the message that Peter himself extols, that of acceptance and tolerance and power in individuality.  That is as much a key to the tales we want told as the over the top settings, the wild escapades, and the colorful characters that we are sure will abound in these fantastic adventures.”

“This also,” continues Hancock, “is an opportunity to further embrace an aspect of fandom that Pro Se is already heavily involved with- The Convention circuit and all who make it successful.  The Peter Pixie series, as well as others we’ll be announcing soon, reach right into the convention arena and introduce fans who may not have any idea what Genre Fiction or New Pulp is to what we do as a company using a character they recognize and relate to.”

The Adventures of Peter Pixie will follow the titular character on his journey from general fan and all around regular guy to being a super hero, a time traveler, and even the keeper of the most prestigious duty in the universe-being an MC (Manager of Continuity).  Pro Se Productions is currently seeking proposals for 30,000 word digest novels, 60,000 word full length novels, and 8-10,000 word short stories to be featured in an anthology within the series. The Adventures of Peter Pixie is aimed at a general audience and more adult tales will be possible in this series.

Peter Pixie: Mayor of the Multiverse is a YoungPulp! series that focuses on Pixie being elected as the Mayor of all the multiple timelines, universes, and dimensions that exist.  It is aimed at an audience of 12-16, though the appeal may go beyond those limits, and will feature action and adventure blended in with humor.  Pro Se Productions is currently seeking proposals for 30,000 word digest novels, 60,000 word full length novels, and 8-10,000 word short stories to be featured in an anthology within the series.

To request a bible for either or both series, please contact Anna Archer at projectcoordinator@prose-press.com. Proposals should be a minimum of two paragraphs and a maximum of two pages, single spaced in 12 point, Times New Roman.  If you have never published with Pro Se Productions before, a two page writing sample must be attached of your work, not necessarily a sample of your proposed story.  Proposals should be sent to submissions@prose-press.com.

Pro Se Productions is a royalty based company.  Percentages will be discussed when proposals are accepted.

For more information on these upcoming titles, contact Morgan McKay, Pro Se’s Director of Corporate Operations, at directorofcorporateoperations@prose-press.com.

PRO SE PRODUCTIONS SIGNS PROSE AND COMIC AUTHOR LOU MOUGIN

Pro Se

A publisher of Genre Fiction and New Pulp, Pro Se Productions proudly announces the addition of a writer that many of today’s authors found as inspirational for years, even though they were not aware of his real name.  Prose and Comic scribe Lou Mougin joins Pro Se’s impressive catalog of creators, bringing his skills and talent to properties licensed to Pro Se, as well as to Pro Se’s PulpStudies imprint and even original work.

“Regardless of your opinion of fanfiction,” says Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief and Partner in Pro Se Productions, “many of the writers known in New Pulp and beyond today got their start there.  We, and yes, I’m included on that list, found audiences for work that we wanted to write with characters we wanted to tell stories about.  It was a great venue for aspiring creators to get a sense of several things, including what readers wanted and if we as creators had the ability to give it to them.  During those years, there was one voice that stood out as unique, not only for his love of the costumed hero, which was obvious in his work, but for his penchant of pulling in every aspect of every character, including a few super powered kitchen sinks possibly, and turning out stories that were simply fantastic fun romps through comicdom.  What made it even more intriguing was that he chose to go by a mysterious name. For years we all knew him only as ‘DarkMark’.  And I’m sort of tickled to death to say that now, so many years later, I get to publish DarkMark’s work, giving the man behind the non de plume the credit he deserves.

“Lou’s work not only inspired a young college kid, that would be me, to push harder in wanting to tell stories, but he provided a lot of writers with motivation and ways to improve their writing.  I’ve talked to many authors over the years since our fanfiction ‘halcyon’ days, at least we thought they were, and many of them have cited Lou’s work as an influence, either because of his simple and straight forward, yet engaging writing style or because he showed us to have no fear in where we took our tales.  It’s a complete pleasure to say that Lou Mougin is now one of Pro Se’s many talented authors.”

Lou Mougin was born in late 1954 to two wonderful people.  A few years thereafter, probably in 1958, his mom proceeded to corrupt him with an issue of MOUSE MUSKETEERS.  From then on, his course was set in stone. He spent his years from childhood forward making up stories.  Lots and lots of stories.

In 1963, he purchased METAL MEN #2 and WORLD’S FINEST #134 at the same time.  From there, he was hopelessly lost to superheroes, though he would appreciate many other forms of comics and literature both high and low.

By the early 1980’s, a few well-received articles netted him a place in the fanzine circuit.  Repeatedly, he tried to sell stories to the comics.  The first of these were five short Inhumans stories intended for WHAT IF?, with art by Rich Howell.

Following this, Lou sold a few Heap plots to Eclipse for AIRBOY, a Swordsman origin story to Marvel for AVENGERS SPOTLIGHT, and a couple of Sparkplug stories to Heroic for LEAGUE OF CHAMPIONS.  This led to a regular gig scripting the SPARKPLUG mini-series and the League’s regular comic, which did not materialize as Heroic suspended publication. Somewhere along the way, he managed to sell a few Elvira stories to Claypool, thanks to old friend Richard Howell.

In between, however, he was inspired to try writing faux stories of superheroes without hope of formal publication or pay.  These efforts were sometimes well-received and gave him a lot of hope in the interim years.  They also gave him a lot of training in doing the costumed set in prose, which was to prove invaluable.

In 2014, Heroic Publishing had returned to publishing, and Pro Se Productions was doing adaptations of Liberty Girl and other characters from the Heroic stable.  Since other friends had been nagging him to try his hand at New Pulp, he cooked up a Liberty Girl story and submitted it.   This work, among others, have now been accepted by Pro Se Productions.

Since then, he’s done more prose stories featuring the Heroic crew for Pro Se, along with a couple of stories for THE CHARLTON ARROW, a new anthology dedicated to one of the best underdog comics publishers of all time.  (Thanks, Roger and Mort!)  A little more comic work is on the horizon.

Lou Mougin writes every night now.  And he is happy.

For interviews with this author, please contact Morgan McKay, Pro Se’s Director of Corporate Operations, at directorofcorporateoperations@prose-press.com.

PRO SE PRODUCTIONS SINGLE SHOT SIGNATURE SERIES DEBUTS-THE GATE KEEPER CHRONICLES: ESCAPE FROM PRISON BASE LUNA NOW AVAILABLE

Pro Se

A Publisher of cutting edge New Pulp and Genre Fiction, Pro Se Productions releases the latest series in its Pro Se Single Shot Signature digital single line. Award winning author Terrence McCauley joins the Signature line up with his first Science Fiction story- The Gate Keeper Chronicles and its debut tale- Escape from Prison Base Luna.

“Terrence McCauley,” states Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief of and Partner in Pro Se Productions, “writes with a ferocity and a singular passion that very few authors seem to have today.  That aspect of his talent fits very well for the crime and noir sort of fiction he has become known for, but it also adds a whole new dimension to Science Fiction as well.  Terrence not only creates a totally believable world of spacecraft and lunar prisons, but each of his characters, even the ones who are voices on a speaker in the story, leave their individual marks and have their own things to say.  That makes Escape from Prison Base Luna both a fantastic sci fi yarn and just a well written tale all around.”

A hijacked star freighter...A lunar prison under siege...A Space Marshall sent to face it all alone.

In his first foray into science fiction, Terrence McCauley (winner of three New Pulp Awards in 2014) crafts a fast-paced, exciting story for the debut of The Gate Keeper Chronicles, McCauley’s Pro Se Single Shot Signature Series of digital singles.

Space Marshall Kyle Mackey is a Gate Keeper - one of the members of the Space Marshall Service to watch for unauthorized entry through the portal that allows near-instantaneous travel between Earth and Mars. But when his ship is attacked by a hijacked star freighter, Mackey feels something's not right. And when he's sent to investigate a downed transmitter at the moon's Prison Base Luna, he's absolutely sure of it. The only question: can he find the answers he needs before he loses his life?

“I've been writing pulp fiction for the past few years,” says McCauley, “so I'm excited to be trying my hand at science fiction. I'm glad to be part of the Pro Se Productions team and I appreciate Tommy giving me the opportunity to tackle a new genre. I hope people will enjoy reading this series as much as I enjoyed writing it.”

The Gate Keeper Chronicles: Escape from Prison Base Luna is the first entry in McCauley's thrilling Gatekeeper Trilogy and the newest Pro Se Single Shot Signature Series!

The Gate Keeper Chronicles: Escape from Prison Base Luna features an excellent cover and logo design by Jeff Hayes and ebook formatting by Russ Anderson.  The story is available for only 99 cents for the Kindle at http://tinyurl.com/lew6gtg and for most other formats via Smashwords at http://tinyurl.com/k3t55w8.

PRO SE PRODUCTIONS SINGLE SHOT SIGNATURE SERIES DEBUTS- VENGEANCE: CUTTER’S LAW NOW AVAILABLE

Pro Se

ro Se Productions, a leader in Genre Fiction, announces the debut of yet another action packed series as a part of its Pro Se Single Shot Signature imprint. The Single Shot Signatures are recurring series or writers’ imprints that focus on digitl single short stories released on a set schedule.  Author David Hopwood takes readers back to the adrenaline fueled, pulpy tales of adventure and danger with his series, Vengeance and the debut tale- Cutter’s Law!

Scribed by James Hopwood (pen name of rising pulp adventure writer David J. Foster), the series features Nathan Cutter, an Australian soldier whose life is turned upside down when his family become innocent victims in a gangland war. Written in the style of the men's action-adventure stories of the 1970s and '80s, such as The Executioner, these fast-paced stories ratchet mayhem and excitement to new levels.

“The Men's Adventure novels of the 1970s and '80s have a special place in my heart,” Hopwood said from Melbourne, Australia. “I know some of the imprints were verging on ultra right-ring fanaticism, but in their favor, they were always fast-paced with over-the-top situations and characters. Where else could you find stories about gun-toting heroes battling dirty Commies who plan to bring the west to its knees by firing atomic missiles from the turrets of 16th century European castles?”

“Of course, times have changed – enemies have changed (or have they?) – and story-telling has changed. Consequently the Men's Adventure novels have waned in popularity. But I don't think the genre has to go the way of the dodo bird. As a reader, the appeal for me was always traveling along with a hero who would never say die – no matter how heavily the odds were stacked against him. I think that trait is something that today's readers can relate to. That's where Nathan Cutter come in – he's from that old-school tradition of never giving in.”

Cutter was first launched on the unsuspecting public in Matt Hilton's Action: Pulse Pounding Tales in 2012 and 2013. Now he is back, in new expanded editions of the original tales, plus an explosive new story – never before published.

I am excited to be able to re-invent these stories for a new audience, packed with new twists and turns and overflowing with gun-smoking action.”

“The Pro Se Single Shot series is a fantastic vehicle for stories such as this, and I am proud to be a part of the initiative. Before it came along, short stories such as these only existed in anthologies. And hey, that's great too – I mean, that's where I got my start, but now there's an opportunity to expand on the universe created in those shorts. Readers can now follow a series, or a character like Cutter, and can be updated with regular instalments. It's great from writers, and great for readers.”

Vengeance: Cutter’s Law features an exhilarating cover and logo design by Jeff Hayes and ebook formatting by Russ Anderson.  The story is available for only 99 cents for the Kindle at http://tinyurl.com/qd8ndns and for most other formats via Smashwords at  http://tinyurl.com/omcbscp.

PRO SE PRODUCTIONS WELCOMES NEW ADDITION TO STAFF AND COMPANY’S FIRST PROJECT COORDINATOR

Pro Se

An innovative Publisher of Genre Fiction since 2010, Pro Se Productions has experienced growth in many ways since opening its doors.  Today, the medium press publisher announces the addition of an individual to fill both the position of executive assistant as well as to be the first to hold a position Pro Se hopes to expand to include others.

“Busy is a good thing,” says Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief of and Partner in Pro Se Productions, “when you’re a publishing house.  Of course, growing as Pro Se is, bringing in more people to help the day-to-day operations move forward becomes necessary.  Also, we have to periodically look at various aspects of how we function and, when it’s called for, consider the best way to maintain and improve quality of what we’re doing.  That is why we are announcing both the addition of an Executive Assistant and the creation of a new position, Project Coordinator.  What is even neater is that these positions are being filled by the same person.  Please welcome Anna Archer to Pro Se Productions.”

Anna Archer

Anna Archer

Anna Archer was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas and raised by her mother, Karin Archer, who decorated her life with love and German culture. Her father, Arliss Leo Archer Jr., passed away when she was young, but his spirit lives on as an inspiration and a muse. Growing up amongst the mountains and trees of the Natural State, Anna found further inspiration in all things natural. She’s been driven to write most of her life, but began to dwell in poetry early on. In the last several years, she has been drawn to writing essays, short stories, and novels. Now, while preparing to pursue a college degree involving writing, Anna takes her first full leap into writing as a career by joining Pro Se Productions as an author (in the upcoming Lake Hamilton Project collection as well as in a Single Shot Signature imprint to be announced later) later this year. Anna currently becomes of a part of Pro Se as an Executive Assistant as well as a Pro Single Shots editor and a Project Coordinator.

“A Project Coordinator,” says Hancock, “is a newly created position where an individual essentially manages a particular title, series, or event connected to Pro Se.  The amount of control a Coordinator has will depend on the specific project, but it will often entail recruiting and assisting writers, editing, determining schedules (if necessary), and other duties.  The Project Coordinator will work directly with either Morgan McKay, our Director of Corporate Operations or myself.  Anna fills the first Project Coordinator position by overseeing High School Heroes, a Single Shot Signature imprint coming to Pro Se this spring.”

The need for a Project Coordinator will be determined by Pro Se administration and other Coordinators will be recruited as needed, Hancock explained.

In addition to those duties, Anna will also be serving as The Editor in Chief’s executive assistant.  Her duties in this capacity will include managing day-to-day schedules and communication, making announcements, and other duties to allow the Editor in Chief to devote time to other functions, such as promotion and expansion.

Hancock continues, “This doesn’t change accessibility to Morgan or myself.  Quite simply, the work we are doing in order to grow Pro Se has gotten to a point that help was necessary simply to keep things moving.  Anna has shown not only an organizational skill that is above average, but the training she has received in editing from various sources makes her a valuable asset to Pro Se in multiple ways.”

Archer’s email address for her various duties is projectcoordinator@prose-press.com.

For more information, contact Hancock at editorinchief@prose-press.com.

My follow-up tale, "Demolition", was created after a vivid dream about a wall covered by insects in a dark cellar. The third story, "Citadel of the New Moon", was set in the distant future, when humanity faces a relentless invasion of flesh-eating gargoyles. Those three tales appeared in magazines from Pro Se Poductions and allowed me to become a part of the Pro Se family. Pro Se

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

At the end of 2013, Pro Se Productions, an innovative publisher of Genre Fiction, debuted its Pro Se Single Shots line, stand alone digital only short story singles at an affordable price.  Due to the success of the single self containted tales, Pro Se launched the Pro Se Single Shot Signature line in 2014.  The Signature imprint still focuses on digital singles, but invited authors either write individual stand alone stories under a ‘From the Pen of…” title or a series of their own creation, either featuring connected stories or even ‘chapters’ or ‘episodes’ as well as still features single short stories or recurrent ‘chapters’ or ‘episodes’ written as short stories.  The New Pulp Publisher debuts the next chapters in four of its inaugural Signature series today.

“The Pro Se Single Shot Signature line,” says Tommy Hancock, Pro Se Productions Partner and Editor in Chief, “is a project that, although it’s gotten off to a slow start, has in many ways altered how Pro Se sees publishing.  We’ll continue with our traditional publishing of novels and anthologies, but the Signature imprint allows us to play with all sorts of possibilities of promotion, distribution, and accessing new readership on several levels.  With schedules being sorted in the next week or two as well as multiple series and writer’s imprints debuing within the line over the next month or so, Pro Se is preparing to redefine Genre Fiction and New Pulp in 2015.  And the four latest installments to the series that kicked off the Signatures are the best way to move forward.”

PRO SE PRODUCTIONS ANTES UP WITH FIRST NEW RELEASE OF 2015- POKER PULP!

Pro Se

One of the most popular games of chance gets Pulpy in the latest release from Pro Se Productions.  A leader in Genre Fiction, Pro Se Productions announces the debut of its latest anthology- Poker Pulp.

“Poker,” says Pro Se Partner and Editor in Chief Tommy Hancock, “is a game made for Pulp stories.  Legends, myths, even a language of sorts has grown up around the game in all its various types and guises.  And of course such a game invites a colorful cast of characters to play it, as witnessed on any one of the TV channels carrying poker tournaments ad infinitum late at night a few years back.  The staple of many a good Western tale and even several Noir type stories, it only made sense to take Poker into the Pulp arena. And of course, with Pro Se doing that, we’re offering you a bit of what you’d expect and a dose of something different. Each story has Poker at its center, but the writers bring their own touch to the tales, casting the game into new genres with different faces around the table than the usual suspects.  But someone still wins and someone still loses in Poker Pulp, and usually more than just money.”

Aces and Eights, a Dead Man’s Hand. Life and Death dealt over a shuffle of a deck. Stakes from dollar bills to souls tossed into the center of the table. And sitting around, waiting for the turn of a card, to raise, check, bet, or fold, are rogues, scoundrels, dames, and sharps. Every single one betting their last breath on the hand they hold.

Pro Se Productions presents Poker Pulp, an anthology centered around the storied, legendary game of cards and chance. Authors J. H. Fleming, Michael Krog, and Brad Mengel deal three tales that up the ante, taking Poker to an all new level of Pulp. Action, adventure, and intrigue are the game of choice in Pro Se Productions’ Poker Pulp.

Poker Pulp features a stylish cover and striking logo design by Jeffrey Hayes, print formatting and cover layout by Percival Constantine, and eBook formatting by Russ Anderson.

This three story collection is available in print via Amazon at http://tinyurl.com/ohuhbbo and at Pro Se’s own store at http://tinyurl.com/oapepfl for $9.00.  Poker Pulp is also available as an eBook for the Kindle at http://tinyurl.com/oytb6s3 and for most other formats at http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/507105 for only $2.99.

THE HAUNTED HEROINE RETURNS! THE ADVENTURES OF GRAVEDIGGER VOLUME TWO DEBUTS FROM PRO SE PRODUCTIONS

Pro Se

A noted publisher of Genre fiction, Pro Se Productions announces the latest volume released from its first author focused imprint.  Reese Unlimited, the home of noted award winning author Barry Reese’s own personal Pulp universe, debuts the second collection of adventures of one of Reese’s most imaginative creations- The Adventures of Gravedigger Volume Two!

“Gravedigger,” says Pro Se Productions Editor in Chief Tommy Hancock, “is sort of the third jewel in Barry Reese’s New Pulp crown.  And what a gem she is.  Although all of the standard adventure and wordsmithing you’ve come to expect from Barry is there, Gravedigger explores themes that Barry’s other creations don’t really get into.  Gravedigger is not only about justice, but about redemption and vengeance and moreso the gray area that exists between all three.  Yes, there’s fists and guns and supernatural doings, but there’s a level of emotion, a distinctly inner aspect of storytelling that Barry taps when he puts his pen to a new Charity Grace story.  And that happens in spades in The Adventures of Gravedigger Volume Two.”

"You will put them into their graves and shovel upon them the dirt that symbolizes their eviction from the mortal world." These words changed Charity Grace’s life…and death forever! Barry Reese, award winning author of The Peregrine and The Adventures of Lazarus Gray returns to the shadowy streets of Sovereign City with a new adventure featuring Charity Grace: Gravedigger!

The Adventures of Gravedigger returns and Sovereign City's haunted heroine continues her mission of justice and vengeance, with the redemption of her soul at stake! In this volume, Gravedigger and her faithful agents confront the twin threats of Hiroshi Tamaki and the immortal beauty known as Pandora when they investigate the strange secret of the Silver Skull!"

Returning to Sovereign City,” explains Reese, “always feels like coming home for me. I relished the chance to take Gravedigger and her allies in new directions and I'm thrilled for my loyal readers to experience the romances, dangers and excitement that make up this novel."

The Adventures of Gravedigger Volume Two features action packed cover art and logo design by award winning artist George Sellas, print formatting by Sean Ali, and eBook formatting by Russ Anderson.

ACTION AND ADVENTURE ABOUND IN 'THE ADVENTURE OF PEARL LE FONG'-NEW FROM PRO SE PRODUCTIONS

Pro Se

Pro Se Productions, a publisher of Genre Fiction and New Pulp, proudly announces the debut of the second book by noted sculptor turned author Tim Holter Bruckner.  Two fisted and double barreled take on whole new levels of meaning in Bruckner’s The Adventure of the Pearl Le Fong.

“Tim Bruckner,” says Pro Se Productions Editor in Chief Tommy Hancock, “is one of those writers every Pulp fan loves to follow.  He came out swinging with Sensible Redhorn last year and as a follow up delivers a collection of two decidedly different tales.  And even though both the stories in this latest book stand on their own, they have something in common with each other and the book before them. They are rousing, action packed Pulp tales and Tim definitely stands out as an accomplished author of New Pulp with this latest addition to his own personal catalog.”

A pearl with a long and bloody history.  A mustache that could predict the weather…but not treachery. Author Tim Holter Bruckner, creator of Sensible Redhorn, takes these two unique objects and weaves stories of intrigue, action, and adventure around them in his two story collection – The Adventure of the Pearl Le Fong!

For centuries the Pearl Le Fong’s perfection inspired covetousness and brutality. Cold blooded murder brought it into the possession of England’s most notorious criminal mastermind and only one man can put an end to Syng’s reign of terror; consulting detective Desmond Owle. Owle’s critical sensitivity to light plunges the investigation into the darkest corners of London society at the peril of his and Mrs. Rothman’s life.

In Bruckner’s second tale, Grandpa’s mustache could predict the weather. It could point, prod, chastise, reward and tickle.   It could tie up your sorrows and untie them with the same simple knot. But it could not predict the betrayal by Martin, Grandpa’s eldest son and his despicable treatment of the innocent girl he impregnated. This Old West tale pits father against son as they struggle against a brutal winter to outwit heartless evildoers to bring their beloved Nan home.

Two high octane tales, each with a hint of the Christmas holidays, by Author Tim Holter Bruckner in one collection- The Adventure of the Pearl Le Fong. From Pro Se Productions.

The Adventure of the Pearl Le Fong features an audacious cover by the author and logo design and print formatting by Percival Constantine and eBook formatting by Russ Anderson.

Holter’s latest book is available in print via Amazon at http://tinyurl.com/lyta6ap and at Pro Se’s own store at http://tinyurl.com/kxgtjlt for $12.00.  The Adventure of the Pearl Le Fong is also available as an eBook for the Kindle at http://tinyurl.com/nxnalst and for most other formats at http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/503541 for only $2.99.

PRO SE PRODUCTIONS ANNOUNCES LICENSING OF WELL KNOWN CON PERSONALITY-THE ADVENTURES OF PETER PIXIE IN 2015!

Pro Se

Known as an innovative publisher of Genre Fiction, Pro Se Productions once again pushes the boundaries of New Pulp with a new addition to its catalog.  Not only does Pro Se add another licensed character to its list of properties, but this one actually exists in a sense.  A popular Convention Master of Ceremonies makes his way from the convention circuit to the printed page in his own adventures in 2015.  Pro Se Productions proudly announces that personality and celebrity Peter Pixie will be featured in two series beginning in 2015.

“Not only is Peter Pixie a great MC,” says Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief of and Partner in Pro Se Productions, “but he in and of himself is a fantastic character.  The backstory and ‘history’ that has been built around Peter- part fact, part fiction- not only make him a perfect character to adapt to prose, but he fits in well with what we’re doing at Pro Se.  On one hand, Peter’s history is replete with heroism and adventure to rival many pulp heroes.  And on the other, in his role as ‘Mayor of the Multiverse’- a role he was actually elected to by congoers- he is perfect as the lead in a series designed for our YoungPulp! line.  And his message, one of self acceptance and individuality, is something that both series will represent and something that even Genre Fiction could use more of today.”

Pro Se is announcing that both series will be open for submissions in early 2015.  Any authors interested in submitting for the all ages The Adventures of Peter Pixie for both short stories and full length works or in submitting for the YoungPulp! series, Peter Pixie: Mayor of the Multiverse!, may request bibles now by emailing submissions@prose-press.com. The bible for each will be available and sent to all who request them on January 1, 2015. Formal calls for each series will be made in January 2015 with details and plans for both.

“Super heroes and mermaids,” says Hancock, “and Pirates of all types.  These and many other wild and wonderful characters populate the world of Peter Pixie.  Combine that with the infectious nature that he imbues his character with and that is reason enough that Pro Se is more than pleased to welcome Peter Pixie to prose.”

“It is with tremendous pleasure,” says Pixie, “that I can finally announce that Pro Se Productions will be publishing a series of books with me as the central character. My message has always been to be yourself and live the life you want. It is my hope that these books inspire everyone who reads them to find the courage to take the chance and do just that. Look for the first one in 2015 and be safe when you can, but always be amazing!”

For more information on these upcoming titles, contact Morgan McKay, Pro Se’s Director of Corporate Operations, at directorofcorporateoperations@prose-press.com.

BARRY REESE’S 'THE DAMNED THING' RETURNS TO PRINT FROM PRO SE PRODUCTIONS!

Pro Se

Pro Se Productions, a publisher of Genre Fiction and New Pulp, proudly announces the latest release from its first author-centered imprint, Reese Unlimited.  With new edits and a stunning new cover, Author Barry Reese’s thoroughly modern tip of the hat to classic mysteries bearing the mark of his very distinct style is in print once again.  The Damned Thing debuts today in print and digital formats from Pro Se Productions.

“It’s not often,” says Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief of and Partner in Pro Se Productions, “that it can be said something written in the last few years should be considered a New Pulp Classic.  I say it, however, without hesitation about Barry Reese’s The Damned Thing. Not only does Barry let you know every word on the page, every action, every plot twist is definitely his, he does it in a way that also echoes classic private eye fiction.  Shades of Chandler and Hammett dance and play with murderous glee throughout Violet Cambridge’s first adventure and the great part is Barry makes it seem effortless, this blending of his own style and classic leanings.  And the two together deliver one of the most unique New Pulp titles to date.”

The toughest detective in 1939 Atlanta is a woman by the name of Violet Cambridge. And she knows her job like she knows herself. All the shadows and alleys, the light and the dark. But when the search for a missing sister and the brutal murder of her partner take her into territory unfamiliar, Violet finds herself on the road to Hell in search of The Damned Thing.

Award winning author Barry Reese’s hard boiled supernatural detective thriller returns in an all new Pro Se Productions edition. Noted for pushing the boundaries of Genre Fiction, Reese takes the classic tropes of the Private Eye tale and gives them his own imaginative, bizarre twists and turns in The Damned Thing. Fans of Reese’s work will recognize characters and themes that run through Reese’s work and new readers will find intrigue, mystery, action, and terror on every page.

From machine guns to magic spells, from mobsters to monsters, Violet Cambridge will face them all in the unholy quest for The Damned Thing. From Reese Unlimited, an imprint of Pro Se Productions.

"It's a thrill,” says Reese, “to have this work back in print, looking better than ever. Violet's story was an important one for me, as a writer and a person, so I can't wait for new readers to experience her journey."

NOW AVAILABLE! NIKKI NELSON-HICKS’ THE ASTONISHING TALES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES: THE SHRIEKING PITS DEBUTS!

Pro Se

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A Publisher known for bringing Today’s best talent to breathe life into Yesterday’s classic characters, Pro Se Productions announces the release of the first volume of a new imprint featuring the World’s Greatest Detective. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s best known creation faces astounding new mysteries and hair raising adventures in The Astonishing Tales of Sherlock Holmes: The Shrieking Pits by Nikki Nelson-Hicks and edited by Dave Brzeski.

“Sherlock Holmes,” says Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief of and Partner in Pro Se Productions, “is a character that Pro Se readers have requested almost since we opened our doors.  And although he’s shown up in a few interesting ways in some of our titles, we’ve been waiting for the right concept, the right group of writers, the right way to present Doyle’s Holmes more as his creator envisioned him.   The Astonishing Tales of Sherlock Holmes is the end result.  This imprint will feature Holmes and Watson and all that readers find endearing about Doyle’s work in stand alone digest novels.  It will also spotlight authors who not only have their own love and affection for Holmes and his canon, but who have a distinct voice that makes them stand out today.  That definitely describes Nikki Nelson-Hicks, right down to her own personal deerstalker.”

Nelson-Hicks brings her adoration for Doyle’s character as well as her own fervent imagination to brilliant life in The Astonishing Tales of Sherlock Holmes: The Shrieking Pits. Dr. John Watson discovers that his friend, Sherlock Holmes, has gone missing while hunting fairies in Norfolk with Ulysses K. Todd and his secretary, Mrs. Bernardine Dowell. Concerned that his friend is on a drug induced bender, Watson goes with the pair to Aylmerton to help his friend, only to discover something more sinister is afoot.

What appears a frivolous excursion into myth hunting takes on a different tone when Watson discovers encrypted notes from the Diogenes Club to Holmes. The World’s Greatest Detective is not hunting fairies, but on the trail of Viking silver and a daring heist. Holmes must use every skill at his disposal to discover the secret of the Shrieking Pits while deftly maneuvering around ghost hunters and fairy enthusiasts….and not add to the body count.

“I owe a huge debt,” says Nelson-Hicks, “to my editor, Dave Brzeski, an Englishman who kept this thoroughly modern and very profane American writer in check. He helped to mold and polish this story and without him, The Shrieking Pits would be a duller tale, indeed.”

The Astonishing Tales of Sherlock Holmes: The Shrieking Pits, featuring stunning cover art and logo design by Jeffrey Hayes and print formatting by Percival Constantine, is available in print from Amazon at http://tinyurl.com/kvlwg4u and Pro Se’s own store at http://tinyurl.com/ozw8tfs for $9.00.  This debut of Pro Se’s newest imprint is also available as an ebook for the Kindle at http://tinyurl.com/knkgoh2 and in most formats from Smashwords at http://tinyurl.com/kqx6jqp for only$2.99.

For more information on this title, interviews with the author, or digital copies for review, contact Morgan McKay, Pro Se’s Director of Corporate Operations, at directorofcorporateoperations@prose-press.com.

Author Nikki Nelson-Hicks Puts Her Brand on Classic Creation with Debut Digest Novel in New Pro Se Imprint

Pro Se

Pro Se Productions, a leader in Genre Fiction, announces a new imprint featuring one of the best known fictional characters ever. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s creation that literally changed the face of fiction and popular culture lives on in a series of daring digest novels from Pro Se.  Author Nikki Nelson-Hicks takes Holmes and Dr. Watson on a mystifying, shocking journey into mystery and intrigue in the line’s debut volume- The Astonishing Tales of Sherlock Holmes: The Shrieking Pits!

Dr. John Watson discovers that his friend, Sherlock Holmes, has gone missing while hunting fairies in Norfolk with Ulysses K. Todd and his secretary, Mrs. Bernardine Dowell. Concerned that his friend is on a drug induced bender, Watson goes with the pair to Almertune to help his friend, only to discover something more sinister is afoot.

Nikki Nelson-Hicks brings her adoration for Doyle’s character as well as her own fervent imagination to brilliant life in The Astonishing Tales of Sherlock Holmes: The Shrieking Pits! From Pro Se Productions.

“When Tommy approached me,” says Hicks, “to write a canonical Sherlock Holmes story, I was happy to take on the challenge. I love the character and this was a chance to show the world my interpretation of the Great Detective.  Many people view Holmes as a cold ascetic, a thinking machine, but that is far from the truth. When Watson first meets him in A Study in Scarlet, Holmes is laughing. Laughing! Albeit from a discovery in hemoglobin but still, it shows him as a man who is full of passion. I see Sherlock Holmes as an adventurer, someone not afraid of ‘leg work’ and getting his hands dirty, providing there is a hot bath and a strong cup of coffee waiting for him at Baker Street. This was the Holmes I wanted to write about.”

Nikki Nelson-Hicks has been described by a fellow writer as the 'unholy lovechild of Flannery O'Connor and H.P. Lovecraft'. An accolade she finds terribly amusing. She is an editor and writer for Pro Se Press. She is the author of the Pro Se Press Single Shot Signatures digital series, Jake Istenhegyi: The Accidental Detective. The first of the series, A Chick, A Dick and A Witch Walk Into a Barn is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Smashwords. The sequel, Golems, Goons and Cold Stone Bitches, will be coming out in November. She also has a story in the Pro Se Press anthology, Once Upon a Six Gun. She has stories in Nashville Noir and Nashville Gothic (Parthenon Press), Soundtrack Not Included (Nashville Writers Group), Capes and Clockwork, volumes 1 and 2 (Dark Oak Press) and she edited the horror anthology, Comfort Foods. She looks forward to seeing her stories in many of Pro Se Productions anthologies to come. She can be found constantly updating her status on Facebook, lurking on Twitter (@nikcubed) or updating her blog at www.nikcubed.blogspot.com.

The Astonishing Tales of Sherlock Holmes: The Shrieking Pits will feature atmospheric cover art and logo design by Jeffrey Hayes.   This debut digest novel will debut in coming days in print and digital formats.

PRO SE PRODUCTIONS REVEALS COVER FOR FIRST ENTRY IN NEW SERIES- THE ASTONISHING TALES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES: THE SHRIEKING PITS

Pro Se

Known for both original innovative characters as well as bringing new adventures to classic creations, Pro Se Productions reveals its first entry into tales about the world’s most famous detective.  The Astonishing Tales of Sherlock Holmes will feature new digest novels and full length works about Holmes and Watson in a style both respective Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s original work and reflecting the skill of individual modern writers.

“Ever since Pro Se began publishing,” says Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief of and Partner in Pro Se Productions, “a month, sometimes even a week hasn’t gone by without someone emailing or asking, ‘So, when will Pro Se do a Holmes book?’  And from the beginning, we steered clear of pursuing Holmes tales for a few reasons.  First, several publishers of various sizes were already producing new stories of the famous detective, both hewing to Doyle’s style and taking Holmes to brand new places.  Also, we were very interested in making sure we had the right tales for Holmes as well as the best creators to leave their mark on the legend.   And Holmes has shown up in a supporting capacity in a few of our books, even as a ghost.  But now, everything has sort of come together in a perfect storm for Pro Se, in terms of what we wanted before throwing our deerstalker into the ring, as it were.  And that is why we are proud to announce The Astonishing Tales of Sherlock Holmes!”

The new line of stories from Pro Se Productions will feature only digest novel or novel length Holmes adventures (Digest novels-30 thousand words, novel- 60 thousand words).  The first work in the series will be The Astonishing Tales of Sherlock Holmes: The Shrieking Pits by author Nikki Nelson-Hicks and will be available in the coming weeks from Pro Se Productions.

Artist Jeff Hayes created the wonderfully rendered cover for The Shrieking Pits.  Evoking  classic images of the Detective and his partner, the cover also hints at the adventure and mystery that Holmes and Watson will encounter, again balancing aspects of both classic tales and new influences.

Jeff Hayes was born and raised in Austin, Texas where he continues to live and work today. He began his graphic design career working as a pen and ink illustrator for a role-playing and strategic gaming company and work several years as a commercial illustrator for a retail grocery chain. In 1989, he changed careers and has served as a law enforcement officer for over 25-years. During this time he has continued working as a part-time illustrator and graphic designer, focusing primarily on audio, television, and film entertainment promotions. A fan of diverse subject matter, his core interests remains science fiction, fantasy, western, and not surprising - crime dramas. Most recently, Hayes has provided hundreds of illustrations for audio drama promotions, covering a wide variety of classical and contemporary subjects.  Examples of his artwork can be found on his website at www.plasmafiregraphics.com

AUTHOR JIM BEARD'S PRO SE SINGLE SHOT SIGNATURE SERIES DEBUTS- CORPUS VILE: CHAPTER ONE-'THE RED JUDGE'!

Pro Se

A leader in Genre Fiction, Pro Se Productions and Author Jim Beard return you to the horror and terror of Corpus Vile in this debut chapter of Beard’s Pro Se Single Shot Signature Series serialized novel - Corpus Vile: Death in the City!

“Not only,” stated Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief of and Partner in Pro Se Productions, “was Jim’s initial Corpus Vile story one of our first Pro Se Single Shots, but the character has proven to be one of the most requested by fans to return! We listened and Jim has not only brought back the mysterious cadaverous menace, but he’s introduced a character that is as intriguing in his own right.  Using the ol’ one two punch that Pulp is known for, Jim delivers a tale that is part masked hero, part horror, and all who&whydunit.”

Months have passed since a vile evil took hold of the city, resulting in the horrific deaths of many, from a beautiful young woman to the city’s own police chief.  A mayor who refuses to be a target, a disgraced former District Attorney desperate to save the city, his replacement eager to make his own name for himself, and a woman possibly too close to all of it for her own good.   These are the people that stand on the brink of danger when the strange deaths begin again as mutilated corpses begin to dot the city once more.  And in the midst of it all, a strange masked figure in crimson robes rises to the call when fear grips the city once more!

Jim Beard’s Corpus Vile: Death in the City- Chapter One: The Red Judge is the debut of Beard’s serialized novel, a new chapter appearing each month and only for 99 cents.
