Morgan Minor, the creator behind Pro Se's Urban Fantasy Imprint- A MINOR GLIMPSE.

Morgan Minor, the creator behind Pro Se's Urban Fantasy Imprint- A MINOR GLIMPSE.

A MINOR GLIMPSE, Pro Se’s latest creator centered imprint, will feature anthologies centered around urban fantasy concepts developed by Pro Se’s own Morgan Minor (writer, editor, and Pro Se’s Director of Corporate Operations), as well as full length works based on her own ideas.  Minor proudly announces an open call for the first A MINOR GLIMPSE anthology- ‘Monsters and Bars’.

"Some of the best stories,” says Minor, “start with one of two things--a good drink or a mad, wild monster jumping out of nowhere. And here, we're going to meld the two. Monsters and Bars will open up the 'what if' part of your brain--What if that guy across the bar was actually a Kappa? Or the woman dancing slowly in a circle is a Banshee? What if?"

Stories for ‘Monsters and Bars’ must be take place in the 1920s, 1940s, 1960s, or 1980s.  The stories must also be set in or largely feature a bar, club, pub, tavern, or public watering hole of some sort.  Submissions must also include as a primary character in some fashion at least one monster contemporary to the era in which the story is set. Stories must be 10,000 words in length.

Authors interested in contributing to ‘Monsters and Bars’ must submit a 1-3 paragraph proposal by April 15, 2014 to submissions@prose-press.com outlining the concept of the story they are proposing as well as detailing the setting, the time period, and the primary characters.  There are six openings for stories in this anthology and all accepted writers will receive 5 % royalty on every dollar made. If an author’s story is accepted, the final story will be due no later than August 1st, 2014 and must be mailed to submissions@prose-press.com.

‘Monsters and Bars’, the first anthology from A MINOR GLIMPSE, Pro Se’s creator focused imprint that takes an unique look at Urban Fantasy, is scheduled for a late 2014/early 2015 release.

For further information on ‘Monsters and Bars’, the imprint, or Pro Se Productions, contact Morgan Minor, Director of Corporate Operations, at DirectorofCorporateOperations@prose-press.com.

ORIGINAL PRO SE PRODUCTIONS AUTHOR BRINGS EPIC SCALE TO DEBUT NOVEL-SHAMANSKIN BY C. W. RUSSETTE

Pro Se

Pro Se Productions, a cutting edge Publisher of Genre Fiction, proudly announces the debut novel of one of the company’s original authors and artists today.  Creator C. William Russette leaves his own definite mark on a well known genre-the vampire novel- and takes it to whole new levels in his first full length novel, SHAMANSKIN.

“C.W. has been,” says Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief of Pro Se Productions, “a part of what Pro Se has been since before it was Pro Se.  He’s shown a dedication as well as an affection for the sort of stories that we want to tell.  With SHAMANSKIN, he’s brought his love of several kinds of tales together and woven something that is nothing short of epic in scope. Having said that, though, he also delivers each word with the precision of a well aimed bullet.  SHAMANSKIN takes hold of a reader and delivers a one-two punch that makes it so much more than ‘just another vampire book’.

Russette turns Horror Adventure in a whole new terrifying and epic direction in SHAMANSKIN. In the supernatural halls of power in the old, dusty forgotten substructures and mansions of Philadelphia there came a whisper one day. The whisper told of an artifact that could control the dead be they vampire or spirit-kind. The two pillars of power, the vampiric House of Brittingham, and the self proclaimed defenders of humanity: the Penumbra Brotherhood, acted with an immediacy almost unheard of for either faction. Both sects needed to find the item before the other because he who holds the shamanskin controls the army of the world’s undead. The denizens of Hartshorn, PA, those that sleep above ground and those that do not, know nothing of the hell that is about to rain down on them like Heaven's ejected rebellion. It is a confrontation that will decide the fate of all humankind."

“In a way,” says Russette, “SHAMANSKIN is my love letter to the myth that terrified me as a boy. It is how I think vampires should be treated. They are not lovers or those that mourn for the world that they are no longer a part of. They are monsters and worse, there are things more terrifying on both sides of the grave.”

SHAMANSKIN features a uniquely haunting cover by Terry Pavlet and formatting and design by David Foster.  Russette’s debut novel is available on Amazon and at Pro Se’s own store (http://tinyurl.com/lk4emgb) in print now and will be available soon as an ebook on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and www.smashwords.com.

TALES OF THE ROOK VOLUME TWO AVAILABLE NOW IN PRINT!

Pro Se

Pro Se Productions announces the debut of TALES OF THE ROOK VOLUME TWO, the latest from author Barry Reese's personal imprint, Reese Unlimited, in print today.

The Rook Lives Again!  Well known Genre Fiction author Barry Reese created one of the seminal characters of New Pulp when he penned ‘Lucifer’s Cage,’ an engaging adventure story starring Max Davies, troubled millionaire who also fought crime of all colors as the masked vigilante, The Rook!  Once more Reese opens the doors wide into the rich, varied universe of his best known character and welcomes a host of authors to tell their own takes on Max Davies and company in TALES OF THE ROOK VOLUME TWO from Reese Unlimited and Pro Se Productions!

Compelled through dark dreams to hunt down and destroy evil wherever it might hide! Assisted by loyal friends and a vast array of allies from the annals of Classic and New Pulp as well as Comics of a bygone era, The Rook's escapades have been a hallmark in the world of New Pulp!

TALES OF THE ROOK VOLUME 2 features stories by David White, Sean Taylor, Jim Palmer, Russ Anderson, and Adam Lance Garcia, as well as a new interview with ROOK creator Reese, a script for an unproduced ROOK cartoon short, and an updated timeline of the Reese Unlimited Universe. TALES OF THE ROOK VOLUME TWO takes Reese’s original creation to all new heights, to places not even The Rook has gone before.

“The TALES OF THE ROOK concept,” Tommy Hancock, Partner in and Editor in Chief of Pro Se Productions, “was born out of Barry’s desire to see how others would handle his character, how other writers would play in the Reese Unlimited sandbox.  I thought it was a fantastic idea and still do.  The batch of writers Barry has brought on this time to tell their own tales of Max and company are some of the best in the business today and take The Rook in some really fun directions.  Different styles on an established character are always fun.”

TALES OF THE ROOK VOLUME TWO features a wonderful cover by Grant Miehm, logo design and print formatting by Sean Ali.  Print copies are available on Amazon and via Pro Se's own store at http://tinyurl.com/kooowfy for $12.00.

TALES OF THE ROOK VOLUME TWO is also available as a Kindle exclusive Ebook at Amazon for only $2.99.

PRO SE PRESENTS #20 CLOSES OUT MODERN PULP MAGAZINE'S RUN WITH SIX TITANIC TALES

Pro Se

An era comes to an end at Pro Se Productions as another one grows from its predecessor.  Pro Se Productions, a leading independent publisher of Genre Fiction and New Pulp, announces the debut of the latest issue of its award winning magazine, PRO SE PRESENTS #20, and that this will be the final issue of the magazine.

PRO SE PRESENTS Goes Out with a Bang and six new tales in this final Issue. The Award Winning New Pulp Magazine, PRO SE PRESENTS, closes its run out with tales both legendary and mysterious. Writers new to Pro Se fill the spotlight in this issue- THE GOLDEN TICKET by Melissa Robinson, LIFE IN PICTURES by Kat Beeton, THE IDEA BOOK by Patti Boeckman, and SILVER AND GOLD by Ethan Nahte bring four fantastic storytellers to PSP. And long time Pro Se author Ken Janssens brings his well loved Aloha McCoy, who appeared for the first time in Pro Se's original magazine run, for one more tale in this last issue. Finally, the legendary Robin Hood appears in a novella by noted Robin Hood author I. A. Watson! PRO SE PRESENTS definitely goes out on the highest of notes in this extra sized final issue!

“PRO SE PRESENTS,” says Tommy Hancock, Partner in and Editor in Chief of Pro Se Productions, “had a singular purpose when we reignited the magazine format at Pro Se, and it has served it well. It was a venue for shorter fiction in a mixed bag format where brand new authors and seasoned professionals could be published together and a mystery could sit beside a western that was followed by a science fiction tale, and so forth.  Some of my favorite stories as a reader and publisher are in these 20 issues.

“One of the reasons for the quality that our magazine has had rests solely with the two people who have handled editorial duties for PSP for some time.  Lee Houston, Jr., Magazine Editor in Chief, and Don Thomas, Copy Editor, have taken these multiple, wildly different at times tales and have massaged them into ideal New Pulp.   Lee and Don have done Pro Se, me myself, and the New Pulp fans, a huge service by shepherding PSP along and making it shine.

“With the changing market in fiction today, however,” says Hancock, “as well as the growing comfort and interest in what technology offers readers today, we have made a decision to end the magazine as it currently exists.  Stories that would normally appear in the magazine, including stories that were slated for future issues, will now appear as a part of Pro Se Productions’ new SINGLE SHOT line.  These are digital only releases -although collecting them in print in the future is always a possibility – priced at 99 cents per story that have their own covers.  We debuted the line in late December 2013 and it has proven largely successful and is the proper venue for sharing short stories with readers as of now.

“One advantage of this shift is that our magazine was a non paying venue.  The SINGLE SHOT line is a paying venue, with each author earning a royalty percentage for his or her work.  Granted, no one will get wealthy from this line of singles, but we are pleased that we will be able to give the authors not only the avenue to get the short stories they have into readers hands- like the magazine did- but also a little bit of earning potential as well.”

PRO SE PRESENTS #20, listed as PRO SE PRESENTS WINTER/SPRINT 2014 is available in print on Amazon and via Pro Se’s own store at http://tinyurl.com/n85754o.  The magazine is also available as ebook at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and www.smashwords.com.

The SINGLE SHOT imprint will start its post grand opening run the first week of March with a goal of four releases a month.

For more information on the magazine, the SINGLE SHOT line, interviews with the authors, or other details, contact Morgan Minor, Pro Se’s Director of Corporate Operations at directorofcorporateoperations@prose-press.com.

‘BLACK PULP’ A PHENOMENON, PUBLISHER ANNOUNCES SECOND VOLUME

Pro Se

In April 2013, Pro Se Productions, a Publisher known for balancing tales harkening back to classic Pulp Fiction with stories pushing the boundaries of modern Genre Fiction, released a title that caused a noticeable ripple in the Genre Fiction and Pulp communities.

BLACK PULP is a collection that takes the wonderful style of Pulp Fiction, established in the early 20th Century, and wraps it around fully realized black heroes and heroines, something that was not done in Pulp’s classic era.  This best selling collection features work from a variety of authors, including best selling authors Walter Mosley and Joe Lansdale as well as notable authors such as well known crime author Gary Phillips, Imaro creator Charles Saunders, Mel Odom, Christopher Chambers, Gar Anthony Haywood, Ron Fortier, Kimberly Richardson, Michael Gonzales, D. Alan Lewis, Derrick Ferguson, and Tommy Hancock.

Co-editor of BLACK PULP, crime novelist Gary Phillips observed, “While revisionism is not history, as the films Django Unchained and 42 attest, nonetheless historical matters find their way into popular fiction. This is certainly the case with New Pulp as it handles such issues as race with a modern take, even though stories can be set in a retro context.”

Pulp fiction of the early 20th century rarely, if ever, focused on characters of color and the handful of black characters in these stories were typically portrayed stereotypically. BLACK PULP brings some of today’s best authors together with up and coming writers to craft stories of adventure, mystery, and more -- all with black characters in the forefront.

Black Pulp offers exciting tales of derring-do from larger-than-life heroes and heroines; aviators in sky battles, lords of the jungle, pirates battling slavers and the walking dead, gadget-wielding soldiers-of-fortune saving the world to mystics fighting for justice in other worlds.

Various outlets, including the Los Angeles Review of Books and The Huffington Post, covered the release of BLACK PULP and positive reviews continue to stack up.

“BLACK PULP,” Pro Se Productions publisher and Black Pulp co-editor Tommy Hancock, "has been a phenomenon for Pro Se.  Not simply because sales have been spectacular for the resources available to us, but also because this title has brought awareness of the company to many writers, whole communities that we’re happy to be associated with.  And it’s not simply because it’s a great book with fantastic talent telling unbelievably good stories. It’s more about discussion, about bringing new stories into this classic style, individuals and entire groups getting a voice in a way they didn’t because of society in the early 20th Century.  New Pulp is what we call this type of fiction because of the chance to blend the best of the past with the sensibilities of today. You really see that with BLACK PULP and the impact it’s had.  And we want that to continue. It’s why there will be a BLACK PULP II and other similar volumes as well.”

Currently, ASIAN PULP is in development from Pro Se and will, like its predecessor, feature Pulp stories, this time with Asian protagonists.  ASIAN PULP is slated for a mid 2014 release.

BLACK PULP II is currently being developed as well. Many of the authors in the original volume are returning, as well as new names.   BLACK PULP II is scheduled for late 2014/early 2015 release.

The collection that started it all, BLACK PULP features a new essay on the nature of Pulp, both classic and modern, by award winning bestselling author Walter Mosley.

The other writers contributing original works to the anthology are: two-time Shamus award winner Gar Anthony Haywood, two time Award finalist Kimberly Richardson, Dixon Medal winner Christopher Chambers, critically acclaimed novelist Mel Odom, hip-hop chronicler Michael Gonzales, and award winning leading New Pulp writers Ron Fortier, D. Alan Lewis, Derrick Ferguson, Charles Saunders, Tommy Hancock, and Chester Himes award winner Phillips. This collection also features a classic story by Joe R. Lansdale, winner of the Edgar Allan Poe award, and multiple Bram Stoker awards.

BLACK PULP is available now from Amazon at http://tinyurl.com/d8wjtph and via Pro Se's own store at https://www.createspace.com/4248056! It is also available via Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords as an Ebook, with format and design by Russ Anderson.

With a pulse pounding original cover by artist Adam Shaw and stunning cover design by Sean Ali, BLACK PULP delivers hair raising action and two fisted adventure out of both barrels!

Vampires, Ghosts, and Lady Detectives- VIONNA AND THE VAMPIRES debuts from Pro Se Productions!

Pro Se

Known for taking Genre Fiction in strange, twisted directions, award winning author Chuck Miller, creator of 'The Black Centipede', leads readers on a brand new 'Psychedelic Pulp' experience with his latest novel from Pro Se Productions- VIONNA AND THE VAMPIRES: Book One of the Moriarty, Lord of The Vampires Trilogy!

“When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.” So said Sherlock Holmes of Baker Street, more than a century ago.

Vionna Valis and Mary Jane Kelly are a pair of hard working psychic detectives experiencing a run of bad luck. A new detective agency, the Femmes Fatales, is taking most of their business. Things seem to change for the better in the form of a new client named Scudder Moran, a wealthy young man with a unique problem; He has been targeted by the very, very late Professor James Moriarty—the Napoleon of Crime in another century, now Lord of the Vampires!

Vionna and Mary find themselves in the middle of a case where everything is both improbable and impossible. How will they find their way to the truth? Unexpected help arrives in the ghostly person of the Great Detective himself, and they set about unraveling a tangled web of lies and secrecy that reaches deep into each of their lives. Can they find the light before Moriarty unleashes his final, most horrific scheme?

"Chuck Miller," says Tommy Hancock, Partner in and Editor-in-Chief of Pro Se Productions, "is by far one of the most unique talents in Genre Fiction today.  He takes the staples and standards of several different types of stories and doesn't just mix them together.  Somehow he intricately weaves usually disparate parts into the wildest trip on fiction I think any reader has ever taken.  The Black Centipede stands out as a vastly distinct character from the rest of his masked cohorts and You'll most definitely discover that Vionna and her cast of cohorts shine in their own deliciously dark way as well."

VIONNA AND THE VAMPIRES by Chuck Miller (Creator of The Black Centipede) is the first volume in the “Moriarty, Lord of the Vampires” trilogy. With a demonically evocative cover by Jeff Hayes and format and design by Percival Constantine, this is definitely an opening chapter to a trilogy like no other in New Pulp.

VIONNA AND THE VAMPIRES is available in print from Amazon as well as via Pro Se's own store at http://tinyurl.com/kcrpm8q for $12.00.  Coming soon in Ebook from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords, as formatted and designed by Russ Anderson!

PRO SE PRODUCTIONS TAKES NEW LOOK AT URBAN FANTASY WITH NEW CREATOR FOCUSED IMPRINT

Pro Se

Known for recognizing creative talent that takes New Pulp and Genre Fiction to exciting new levels, Pro Se Productions announces today the addition of a new Creator Focused Imprint to its lineup for 2014.  Coming soon from Pro Se Productions- A MINOR GLIMPSE, an imprint focused around the urban fantasy work and concepts of Morgan Minor, Author and Pro Se’s Director of Corporate Operations.

morga.jpg

“Morgan,” Tommy Hancock, Partner in and Editor in Chief of Pro Se Productions, states, “joined Pro Se as a prospective writer just over a year ago and quickly showed that not only was she a creative powerhouse, but she had the skill to take that imagination and apply it to not only her work, but the work of others.  Stepping in at a time that Pro Se needed someone like her, Morgan has since influenced, assisted, and added her own touch to several projects, including many of the Pro Se anthologies we’ve opened for submissions. She’s also shared her input and ideas with writers on various projects, leaving her mark as an editor on much of what’s come out from Pro Se in the last year.

“The best part, though,” Hancock says, “is that Morgan is a creator at heart.  She takes an idea and sees it from every angle, including the ones no one else can detect.  She can bring the literary aspects out of a two fisted hero without the action every slowing one bit.  She reads between the lines and taps the motivations that even writers sometimes don’t know they are working into their tales.  And her own ideas, her own concepts, they’re simply amazing in the sense that they walk a line of pure Pulp andsomething else.  Literary, maybe, but something more than that. So, it follows that we’d love to have Morgan take some of her concepts, particularly in the realm of urban and modern fantasy that she loves so much, and share them through her own imprint, to give others what we will call A MINOR GLIMPSE into her view of New Pulp and Genre Fiction.”

A MINOR GLIMPSE will feature anthologies centered around ideas developed by Minor as well as full length works based on her concepts.  Eventually, works by Morgan will also be a part of the imprint, including a Fantasy project she has been working on for some time.  But, initially, the imprint will be a fertile ground for Minor’s ideas to see life under her guidance in the hands of others.

“This imprint,” says Minor, “will allow myself and other writers to explore the wandering pathways of the 'what if' scenario. What if there were a bit of magic in the world? What if we could catch a Minor Glimpse of what life would be like with contemporary spin on the classics we all know and love? There, you have a wellspring of stories, ready to claw their way from the recesses into the world of "what if' urban fantasy! And I am very appreciative of the opportunity Pro Se is giving me to share my vision with other writers, artists, and readers.”

The first title from A MINOR GLIMPSE will be ‘Monsters and Bars’, an anthology which a submissions call will be forthcoming for in the next week.

For more information on this announcement, contact Morgan Minor, Pro Se’s Director of Corporate Operations, at MorganMinorProSe@yahoo.com.

Pro Se

Author Rick Nichols brings his well known character, PI John Logan, to Pro Se Productions, with the debut of the fifth Logan thriller, COLD DISH.

Tommy Hancock, Partner in and Editor in Chief of Pro Se Productions, says, “Pro Se is definitely a good second home for Logan and his adventures.  COLD DISH, a sequel to the last novel, INTO THE MAGIC NIGHT (still available from Seven Realms Publishing and soon in a special edition from Pro Se), shows what a man like Logan will do when pushed to the limit.  So many tales are ‘When an ordinary man is on the edge, what will he do?’ Logan is no ordinary man, so all bets are off.  Rick tells this-and all the Logan tales- like a master in the mystery thriller field.”

The series by Nichols focuses on John Logan, former Intelligence operative turned Private Investigator. His search will uncover an old familiar killer, a man whose money and power seems endless. It will take all of Logan’s skill and determination to survive.  For how does someone who has nothing fight a man who has everything?

ROMANCE WITH A TWIST OF PULP FROM PRO SE PRODUCTIONS- TO LOVE & DIE

Pro Se

Love makes The World Go ‘Round… Until it Kills You. Pro Se Productions, a leader in Genre Fiction, presents a Romance collection like no other- TO LOVE AND DIE!

Romance has endured for centuries as the most popular genre in entertainment, even in the era of Classic Pulp Fiction. Pro Se Productions harkens back to Love with a Razor’s Edge in TO LOVE AND DIE. Three stories that look at the blessed curse that has plagued men and women literally since time began through a Pulp prism.

“Romance sells,” says Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief of Pro Se, “and it always has.   Whether or not it’s a western, a science fiction story, or just a good old drama, romance is an aspect that usually slides in.  It’s not lost on Pro Se, being a New Pulp Publisher, that the genre was not only the best selling area for Pulps in the early 20th century, but that romance remains the best selling genre.  The three stories in this collection run the gamut and appeal to not only Romance readers, but fans of all sorts of genres. Combine that with the fact that there are three covers for the book and readers can pick any or all and TO LOVE AND DIE is the Romance Pulp collection for everyone.”

Authors Mark Bousquet, Bonnie J. Sterling, and Phillip Drayer Duncan put their hearts on the line with three tales of Lust, Passion, Love, Hate, and more.  Renowned Pulp Artist Adam Shaw contributes three different covers to this anthology.  Cover One features two people standing, fully clothed.  Cover Two features two people, a woman in lingerie threatening her armed lover.  Cover Three is similar to Cover two, except the woman is posed in the nude.    This is the first book Pro Se Productions has offered with three possible covers readers could purchase.

Love is hard. Find out just how hard in the first Romance collection from Pro Se Productions- TO LOVE AND DIE. All three covers are available on Amazon and Pro Se’s store at www.prose-press.com for $9.00.  The collection will be available as an Ebook on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords in coming days.

OPEN CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FROM PRO SE PRODUCTIONS- WRITE TO THE COVER VOLUME TWO

Pro Se

Known for innovative concepts to draw in creators and readers, Pro Se Productions announces today a story call for a second volume of WRITE TO THE COVER.

“We had,” says Pro Se Productions Editor in Chief Tommy Hancock, “such a huge response to the first WRITE TO THE COVER volume that when Jeff offered this fantastic piece of his, it simply screamed WRITE TO THE COVER.  It would take something different and just as phenomenal to follow up Adam’s piece and Jeff’s exciting, mysterious cover definitely fills the bill.”

writetothecover2.jpg

The WRITE TO THE COVER anthologies are a bit different than most.  Each submissions call starts with a cover instead of a story concept or bible. The image for the first volume (currently in editing and scheduled to be released in 2014) was submitted by Memphis artist Adam Shaw.  All stories accepted into the collection must be based on the accompanying image and this scene must be included in the story, if possible.  In essence, an image is completed before the stories are submitted and stories written based on that image.

WRITE TO THE COVER VOLUME TWO spotlights artwork by Jeff Hayes.  This piece evokes a variety of possible ideas due to several factors present in the image and offers writer a variety of directions to pursue.

Any authors interested in being a part of WRITE TO THE COVER VOLUME TWO must submit a 2-3 paragraph proposal to Morgan Minor, Director of Corporate Operations at MorganMinorProSe@yahoo.com.  The stories must be 10,000 words in length.  Deadline for Proposals is March 10th. All proposals will be reviewed and responded to within 48 hours of receipt and proposals will be accepted until all slots in the collection are filled.  WRITE TO THE COVER VOLUME TWO will be slated for an early 2015 release.

THE PAST AND PULP COLLIDE IN PRO SE PRODUCTIONS' "HIGH ADVENTURE HISTORY!"

Pro Se

Pulp HappensThroughout History! Pro Se Productions, a publisher of Genre Fiction, proudly presents HIGH ADVENTURE HISTORY, an anthology that puts the fast pacing and over the top action of Pulp Fiction in the History books! Setting tales in the past and telling them with a predominantly Pulp flavor, these stories find action and adventure in the annals of yesterday for readers today!

Tommy Hancock, Pro Se Editor in Chief and Partner in the company, says, “Pulp has always mined history for stories.  Westerns, Barbarians and Invaders, Pirates, and more.  And New Pulp is no different, many tales being set in the years in which Pulps were popular.    The concept behind HIGH ADVENTURE HISTORY was simple,  to get authors to step out of the present and into the past and to deliver true Pulp tales from whatever era tickled their Genre fancy.  What we ended up with were three widely different tales that tackle history from completely different sensibilities and yet all three authors deliver tales that would be at home in any Classic or New Pulp magazine.”

Take a trip to the past with authors D. Alan Lewis, Teel James Glenn, and Mark Gelineau as they redefine High Adventure and History! Action, Adventure, Espionage, Mystery, and Horror abound in tales of days gone by in this thrilling collection. With a stunning cover by David L. Russell, design and formatting by Jeff Hayes, David Foster, and Russ Anderson, this volume will definitely prove to be historic. Relive the Past with Extra Pulp in Pro Se Production’s HIGH ADVENTURE HISTORY.

“This story,” says Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief of and Partner in Pro Se, “is a perfect storm for our YOUNGPULP! line.  Not only does is have spot on pacing and enough action to satisfy any Pulp fan, but it’s also written in a voice that appeals to all ages.  Also, Ken doesn’t just put down a slam bam adventure tale.  Within the tension and the excitement, he gives readers a glimpse at not only the family dynamic between the two sisters, but also a glimpse of society that many of our young readers find themselves in every day.  Combine that with the unspeakable terrors in these pages, and man, oh, man, this one’s a hit.”

A friendless science geek and a feisty sci-fi fanatic, Rowan and Nova are cut from a different bit of cloth. They don’t always get along, but they may be the only ones with enough guts and smarts to save their missing classmates from something straight out of Nova’s imagination.
All they need is the right motivation. And to not disappear themselves.

Equal parts adventure and mystery, THE SISTERS ARCANA invites readers into a world where nothing is as it seems at first glance and strength is found when and where least expected. This book features an atmospheric cover by Kathryn Frizzell with print formatting by Ken Janssens and Sean Ali and eBook formatting by Russ Anderson.

FIRST FULL LENGTH BOOK EVER PUBLISHED BY PRO SE PRODUCTIONS NOW AVAILABLE AS EBOOK! THE ROOK VOLUME 6!

Pro Se

When Pro Se Productions, now a leading Publisher of Genre Fiction and New Pulp, first moved from magazine publishing to book publishing, the company debuted with two titles.  Due to unavoidable technical issues, the production files for each of these titles were lost not long after and for that reason, these two titles have remained print only for nearly four years.

Pro Se Announces today the release of one of these two titles, the first full-length book published by Pro Se Productions, in digital format.  THE ROOK VOLUME SIX by Barry Reese, noted author and creator with his own author imprint at Pro Se, debuts today for the Kindle at Amazon, for the Nook at Barnes and Noble, and for most formats at www.smashwords.com.

“This,” Tommy Hancock, Pro Se Editor in Chief and Partner, “has been a book that people have wanted to see as an ebook from almost the beginning.  We had a PDF version when we first published it, as we were not doing formalized Ebooks at that point.  Then, things happened and we had some issues with the original files and it and another title never made it into our initial ebook push.  That, thankfully has been rectified and ebook readers can no enjoy the Sixth Volume of Barry’s Rook, which was the first volume of the character published at Pro Se Productions.”

The Rook spreads his wings once more in THE ROOK: VOLUME SIX from Pro Se Productions and creator Barry Reese! Facing foes unlike any before, this penultimate New Pulp Hero takes on Germany's greatest champion, Sun Koh and the ferocious Furies! Also, he fights side by side Lazarus Gray, another Reese hero destined for greatness! Combine that with another story, an interview with the author, and a timeline of the Rook and his world, and THE ROOK:VOLUME SIX is a book every fan of Heroic Fiction must have!

Available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords as an Ebook for only $2.99.

Pro Se

A leading publisher in New Pulp and Genre Fiction, Pro Se Productions announces the debut of its newest title exclusively on the Kindle for a limited time.

TALES OF THE ROOK VOLUME TWO is debuting as a Kindle exclusive initially and will be available in print in coming days

“We are seeing,” says Hancock, “a great number of sales in ebooks, particularly Kindle, so debuting the latest Reese Unlimited book as a Kindle Exclusive for a while as well before the print edition makes a bit of sense.  It also gives us the option to offer a special promotion or two along the way and Amazon Prime members can actually borrow the book for free, which is a neat thing.”

TALES OF THE ROOK VOLUME TWO features a wonderful cover by Grant Miehm, logo design and print formatting by Sean Ali, and Ebook Formatting by Russ Anderson.  Get Your Kindle Copy today for only $2.99.

JOHN LOGAN THRILLER SERIES BY RICK NICHOLS FINDS NEW HOME AT PRO SE PRODUCTIONS

Pro Se

Pro Se Productions, a leading Publisher of Pulp and Genre Fiction, revealed today the move of a well established series character and author from one publisher to Pro Se’s catalog and staff of writers.   Tommy Hancock, Partner in and Editor in Chief of Pro Se announced that author Rick Nichols, creator of THE JOHN LOGAN series of thrillers, is bringing his seminal mystery/adventure thriller series and its unique leading man from Seven Realms Publishing to Pro Se.

“It’s always exciting,” says Hancock, “when we get the chance to bring a wonderful writer, a stunning character, and a great set of stories to Pro Se.  This is made even more exciting by the fact that I’ve been a fan of the John Logan books since the first one.  When Kent Holloway, the man behind Seven Realms, let me know that his company was changing directions and would no longer be publishing most of its current lineup or taking new titles in the future, he asked if Pro Se would consider taking Rick and his Logan series on.  The answer took as long as it took me to type ‘YES!’”

Cover for Cold Dish- Coming Soon from Pro Se

The series by Nichols focuses on John Logan, former Intelligence operative turned Private Investigator.  Trying to leave years replete with death and pain behind him, Logan finds his own past coming back to haunt him and a present that keeps slamming him in the face as well.   Old friends and enemies, new crimes and mysteries surround Logan as he tries to work forward from a life that keeps pulling him back.

"I seriously,” says Kent Holloway, Owner and Publisher of Seven Realms Publishing, “have always felt Logan would do much better with Pro Se. He's the kind of action hero Pro Se’s readers expect.”

The first John Logan novel from Pro Se will be COLD DISH, the fifth in the series and the direct sequel to the fourth book, INTO THE MAGIC NIGHT.  COLD DISH is tentatively slated for release in March 2014 in Print and Digital format.   The previous four books will be released two volumes each in two omnibuses within the next year.

Nichols states, "I'm very excited about being a part of the Pro Se team. I look forward to a long relationship and am already working on the next John Logan thriller."

Rick Nichols is the author of the John Logan series of thrillers. He is a former US Army Military Police officer. When he’s not busy creating worlds, he loves reading, golf, guitar, chess, and a friendly game of poker. He lives in Florida.

Pro Se

Known for cutting Edge Genre Fiction, Pro Se Productions proudly announces the debut of its latest collection, one that mixes the mundane with intrigue and a fair dose of Pulp thrown in.  Ever wonder about the secret lives of the people you pass every day on the street?  Could they be more than they seem?  What if they were spies, the backbone of that shadow community that kept our country and secrets safe? Find out in COVERT OPS: GEMINI, an anthology featuring three <span class="GRcorrect" grcontextid="pulse:0" grmarkguid="956dbc39-fc38-4fd5-8c5f-0cccd9fc516c" gruiphraseguid="d98d5927-86b2-4aad-ab85-6f622489e4b8">pulse</span> pounding tales of Espionage, now available from Pro Se Productions.

In a world where no one can be trusted and no one is safe, spies are everywhere. In the kitchen of the small house on the corner. High above a city at the top of a skyscraper under construction. In the checkout line at the local grocery. People with skills unheard of by most normal citizens living normal every day lives as accountants, teachers, plumbers, and more. Every day existence is their only battleuntil a lone voice on the other end of the phone or in the static of a radio or even whispering in their ear from over their shoulder welcomes back to the war. Their own personal codename followed by one word – GEMINI.

And then the housewife, the normal joe, Mr. and Mrs. America become the deadliest espionage agents this country has ever created, members of the top secret initiative known by very few as COVERT OPS: GEMINI!

Pro Se Productions, concept creator Tommy Hancock, and authors J. Walt Layne, Wesley Smith, and Tim Lasiuta proudly presents COVERT OPS: GEMINI. In the tradition of Mission: Impossible, COVERT OPS: GEMINI delves into the world of international espionage and looks at the men and women who make up the deadliest team of spies ever. Led by Steven Graves, roguish and calculating agent, and overseen by the mysterious Officer James, members of Covert Ops; Gemini live regular lives, hold down normal jobs, build families and careers, until they are needed. Then they step away from their desks, their aprons, their very existences and put skills outside of their normal persona into use as they were trained to. What follows for them may be failure or even death. But, if they succeed, not only does the world go on, but they get the one thing back they value most- their covers.

“Spies,” says Hancock, also Partner in and Editor in Chief of Pro Se, “are such a part of our Pop Culture crazy quilt.  From Bond to Matt Helm to George Washington’s Secret Six and more, we all love a good spy tale.  Not only that, but at some point, we all wonder what it would be like to be a spy, to be called up at a moment’s notice and recruited for a mission of National Security that no one could ever know about.  That’s the premise of COVERT OPS: GEMINI.  That the best way to hide a spy is inside a real life, summoning the secret agent side only when necessary.”

Featuring a fantastic retro cover by Terry Pavlet and formatting and design by Percival Constantine with Ebook Format and Design by Russ Anderson, COVERT OPS: GEMINI is available on Amazon and via Pro Se’s own store for $9.00. Available in other outlets, both online and brick and mortar soon!  This collection is also available as an Ebook via Amazon and www.smashwords.com for only $2.99.

FAMILY AND FANTASY- THE BROTHERS JADE DEBUTS FROM PRO SE PRODUCTIONS

Pro Se

Known as a leader in New Pulp Fantasy, Pro Se Productions announces the release of Author Don Thomas’ first fantasy novel.   Thrill to excitement, intrigue, and magic as two men discover what it means to be THE BROTHERS JADE.

Pro Se Productions presents THE BROTHERS JADE, an exciting tale of fantasy and magic by Don Thomas. Set on the landscape of his own imagination, Thomas creates a cast of characters that not only stand sword to shield with other fantasy creations, but also carry humanity in their every action.

“THE BROTHERS JADE,” says Tommy Hancock, Partner in and Editor in Chief of Pro Se Productions, “is more than just a Fantasy novel.  Don explores aspects of family and loyalty and duty in these characters that most Fantasy novels shy away from.  The Brothers and their band of adventurers are fleshed out, fully developed people who come to life off the page. That’s not to say that it isn’t a rip roaring Pulp sword slinger, either.  Because it is most definitely that as well.”

In THE BROTHERS JADE, The world of Mythas is in transition. The old gods are near forgotten and a palpable tension hangs in the air. This is especially apparent to two young magic casting brothers, Lawrence and Hesikiah, raised by a father who was a War Mage of the highest caliber and a mother whose shrewd diplomacy helped to forge the alliances of the five great nations to the West. Even with a lineage such as this, neither brother could have imagined the role they and the other valiant heroes soon to join them would play on the world stage. Or that their coming had been foretold in a series of ancient prophecies.

THE BROTHERS JADE is as much a story of family and heroism and loyalty as it is of monsters, mages, and battle. Both a quest tale and a rousing adventure, THE BROTHERS JADE brings out another aspect that is often overlooked in Fantasy works. It is also a coming of age tale sat against the stark backdrop of intrigue and adventure, action and danger. An action packed novel for any fan of Fantasy.

Featuring a cover by Adam Shaw with cover and logo design by Percival Constantine, THE BROTHERS JADE, formatted for print by Constantine, is available on Amazon and at www.prose-press.com for $12.00.  The novel is also available as an Ebook, formatted and designed by Russ Anderson, at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and www.smashwords.com for only $2.99.

THE BROTHERS JADE by Don Thomas from Pro Se Productions, the leader in New Pulp and Genre Fiction.

For interviews with the author or for digital review copies or more information on THE BROTHERS JADE, contact Morgan Minor, Pro Se’s Director of Corporate Operations, at MorganMinorProSe@yahoo.com.

Don Thomas is a writer and editor.  During his time with Pro Se Don has worked as a copy editor, as well as having the fantasy short stories Andar and the Farmer and the Town that Demanded Recompense published in different anthology volumes. Don was also able to publish a Science Fiction novel titled Savior in early 2012. One of his proudest achievements with the company was being able to work on several Pro Se Pulp Obscura projects including The New Adventurers of the Griffon and The New Adventures of the Green Ghost, as well as the upcoming Pulp Obscura book featuring Major Lacy.

THE BROTHERS JADE is Don’s first fantasy novel. He is also working on several other Fantasy projects including an anthology and other novels set in the same Fantasy setting as the first. Along the way he has also been steadily working on completing a novel based on his 1940's Pulp character the Rapier, which will also be featured in an ongoing monthly comic by another publisher.

SCIENCE FICTION AT ITS BEST- 'TO DIE A STRANGER' DEBUTS FROM PRO SE PRODUCTIONS

Pro Se

Pro Se Productions, a leading publisher of Genre Fiction, announces the debut of a thrilling and evocative Science Fiction thriller by an author with a strong, singular voice.

A woman finds stardom out of boredom. Then a twist of fate sets her on a road to danger, espionage and leaves her to deal with what it feels like TO DIE A STRANGER. Pro Se Productions Presents TO DIE A STRANGER, a Science Fiction Thriller from author Jilly Paddock set in a world where human and machine are paired in order to assure control. A control that one such pair will challenge.

Anna-Marie has it all. A pretty face and a life of leisure backed by the wealth and status of the family business, the Delany Computer Corporation. It's not enough. Anna's bored, so she dabbles in showbiz as the holo-actress Amaranth Dusk. She gains some success, then loses it all in an aircar accident that almost claims her life. Scarred and severely injured, Anna struggles back to health. As her memory clears, she realizes that the accident was a deliberate attack and tries to discover who wanted her dead. Her investigations take her to Delany Corp, which as a secret at its core, a hidden conspiracy of government funded technology and espionage. Anna unwittingly stumbles into a top secret project that takes ordinary humans and pairs them with computers to create spies who can read minds and walk through walls. These agent-pairs are used by Earth Intelligence, Mother Terra's primary security force, as powerful weapons to keep her empire of colony worlds under control. Zenith-Alpha 4013 is part of the project, a flawed computer who has failed to find a partner. It chooses Anna and together they must outwit all of Earth Intelligence to escape and survive.

“Science Fiction,” says Tommy Hancock, Partner in and Editor in Chief of Pro Se Productions, “is actually a really difficult genre to get right.  So much of what is called Science Fiction either misses the point of the genre completely and is top heavy with aliens and future tech, causing it to cave in on itself, or it’s simply written to capitalize on being ‘Sci Fi.’  Jilly Paddock not only gets Science Fiction right with TO DIE A STRANGER, but she delivers as much thriller as she does technology.  And the characters, both human and not, do what good characters should.  They show us a bit of ourselves, whether we like it or not.”

TO DIE A STRANGER is equal part science fiction tale, thriller, and mystery, blended into a seamless exploration of what the future may hold and into one fast paced action packed ride. TO DIE A STRANGER by Jilly Paddock from Pro Se Productions is available in print on Amazon or via www.prose-press.com for $12.00 and coming soon to other print outlets.  It is also available as an EBook on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and www.smashwords.com for $2.99.

Gillian M. (Jilly) Paddock's earliest published works were in the field of medical reseach in the mid-70s. One of which, she presented at a conference in London in 1975.  She's been writing science fiction and fantasy stories for as long as she can remember. An early version of her first full-length novel did the rounds of publishers both sides of the Atlantic, courtesy of the Dorian Literary Agency. Sadly, while all the responses to the work itself were very positive, none of the publishers felt they had a place for it on their lists at that time. She sold three short stories to small press magazines in the early 90s, but two of them folded shortly after publication and the third before they even published her story.

After not writing for many years, Jilly decided the time was right to resurrect her career after taking early retirement from the National Health Service.  Since then, she has self-published several books on Amazon Kindle, which have received excellent reviews. The title story of her short story collection, 'The Dragon, Fly', was written on a creative writing course and received high praise from the tutor, the late, great Iain (M.) Banks.

She lives in a small, untidy house in the flat bits of East Anglia in the UK, which she shares with an editor and reviewer, and an insanely large number of books and CDs.

Pro Se

For Immediate Release

The New Adventures of Foster Fade, The Crime Spectacularist Debuts!

Pro Se Productions, a leading Publisher of Genre Fiction and New Pulp, announces the release of its newest entry in its PULP OBSCURA Imprint.  In conjunction with Altus Press, Pro Se brings classic Pulp characters often long forgotten back to modern readers by producing new stories penned by the today’s authors.  Although the characters have usually entered into the Public Domain, the latest PULP OBSCURA volume features a character licensed from the estate of perhaps the most well known of all Pulp Writers- Lester Dent.

THE NEW ADVENTURES OF FOSTER FADE, THE CRIME SPECTACULARIST features a character created by Lester Dent, the man responsible for Pulp Fiction’s greatestand most enduring adventurer, Doc Savage.  Fade first appeared in Dell’s All Detective Magazine in 1934.   A private investigator employed by a major newspaper to investigate the strange and the bizarre, Fade encounters danger and action with his assistant, Dinamenta ‘Din’ Stevens, a reporter who writes about Fade’s incredible exploits.  Armed with extraordinary instruments of scientific wizardry, Fade and Din are back on their beat and plunging headlong into adventure.

“It’s truly an honor,” says Tommy Hancock, Partner in and Editor in Chief of Pro Se Productions, “to have the chance to be the home for a collection of new Foster Fade tales.  Although we all know Lester Dent for giving the world Doc Savage, he contributed so many other colorful characters as well, many of them laying the groundwork for Doc and his companions.  Fade is a character with similarities, yet dramatic differences to Doc Savage.  The interplay between Fade and Din and the almost arrogant confidence that Fade pours into every adventure makes the stories not only exhilarating and thrilling, but a whole lot of fun as well.  Thanks to Matt Moring with Altus Press for helping Pro Se have this opportunity as well as to Will Murray  and the heirs of Norma Dent for allowing myself, Pro Se, and the creators in this book to be a part of this project.”

THE NEW ADVENTURES OF FOSTER FADE, THE CRIME SPECTACULARIST contains six tales featuring mechanical marvels and maddening mystery from Adam Lance Garcia, Derrick Ferguson, Aubrey Stephens, David White, and H. David Blalock.  With a fantastically rendered cover by Mike Fyles, the book also features format and design by Sean E. Ali for print and Ebook design and formatting by Russ Anderson.  This is the first of two volumes featuring characters licensed for use by Pro Se Productions from the heirs of Norma Dent.

PRO SE PRODUCTIONS RELEASES SECOND SILVER MANTICORE VOLUME!

Pro Se

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-PRO SE PRODUCTIONS RELEASES

SECOND SILVER MANTICORE VOLUME

A popular New Pulp character makes his return to print today from Pro Se Productions and he’s not alone!

The Silver Manticore- To some, he is nothing more than an urban legend, rising from the fears of cowardly criminals. To others, he is a masked mastermind of evil cutting into the biggest schemes, helping himself to the largest share. And then there’s the truth-that the Manticore, unknown to both the Law and The Underworld, is a force of good merely posing as a crook!

Author PJ Lozito’s New Pulp sensation returns in a collection of stories entitled SILVER MANTICORE: FRIENDS AND FOES

THE SILVER MANTICORE: FRIENDS AND FOES by PJ Lozito is a collection of stories focusing on the heroes and villains, the sidekicks and henchmen that surround the mysterious masked crimefighter known as The Silver Manticore. The cover, wonderfully rendered by Pro Se Artist Adam Shaw with logo design by Perry Constantine, is reminiscent of the best classic Pulp covers. It features not only the Manticore himself prominently, but members of the legions of good and evil ready to fight one another for or against the masked man.

“PJ,” Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief of Pro Se Productions says, “has captured the best of old and new with The Manticore.  Yes, all the classic nostalgic tropes are here that make this a stunning homage to classic Pulp and radio and serial heroes of the early 20th Century.  But PJ also delivers the action and characterization as a whole in a very modern, concise style.   Between the punches and gunshots, these figures become real people and that makes the four color nature of the tales in this collection that much brighter.”

Regardless of what those who know of the mysterious figure believe, The Silver Manticore has come into contact and conflict with allies and enemies. This avenging vigilante has definitely made many friends and foes, each with their own stories!

Pro Se Productions proudly presents SILVER MANTICORE: FRIENDS AND FOES by PJ Lozito. The follow up to the Pro Se Bestseller, THE STING OF THE SILVER MANTICORE, this volume presents a side of the Pulp hero that often goes unseen- How Those who stand beside and against what he does view him and his actions.

Join The Manticore in ten two fisted double-barreled tales where you will meet-

The Maggot, who has used the very same methods of the Manticore in his own war on crime, Doc Wylie, scientist and crime buster supreme, who has been pressed into aiding the Silver Manticore, Special Inspector Joe Casey of the N.Y.P.D., who secretly works for the Silver Manticore, Evan White, the African American who inherited the silver mask in the 1950s and many others who have come to know The Manticore for better or worse.

Fight alongside PJ Lozito’s fantastic homage to classic heroes and those he encounters in SILVER MANTICORE: FRIENDS AND FOES from Pro Se Productions.
