Good and Evil Exposed-THE BISHOP OF PORT VICTORIA by Alan D. Lewis Debuts from Pro Se Productions

Pro Se

Pro Se Productions, a leader in Genre Fiction and New Pulp, announces the release of its newest title today, one that asks the question-With Ultimate Power, Who is Corrupted More? The Good Or The Evil? The answer is explored in D. Alan Lewis’ THE BISHOP OF PORT VICTORIA.

First appearing in Lewis’ contribution to Pro Se’s best selling and groundbreaking BLACK PULP anthology, Port Victoria is a city with a history rich in Heroes and Villains, in Good and Bad.  And one man seeks to bring righteousness to the troubled city in any way necessary.

“It’s a great concept,” says Tommy Hancock, Partner in and Editor in Chief of Pro Se Productions, “that can not only pack the punch of a classic Pulp tale, but also have a relevance that resonates with readers today.  THE BISHOP OF PORT VICTORIA at first glance appears to be a novel aimed at deconstructing the concept of a hero, but it’s really not.  At the heart of this collection of stories lies an exploration of what it means to stand up and be a hero and if everyone is actually suited for that. The book also dissects the concepts of good and evil and shows not only what makes them different, but also the fearful similarities of each idea.  Add in battle scenes, tense situations, and death defying acts of bravery and stupidity, and THE BISHOP OF PORT VICTORIA is the definition of what New Pulp is.”

At the start of the 20th century in the city of Port Victoria, three college students were given a formula that imbued them with incredible powers; strength, agility, and speed. Donning masks and capes, they took to the streets to fight crime and battle evil. Their tactics were effective but harsh, stacking up a body count larger than the mobs.

But as the decades went by, the heroes passed their abilities through their bloodline to each generation of their descendants. And each generation spawned a hero to protect the Port.

Born into a city when the first generation of heroes fought, Eric Raven struggled in the mean streets of Port Victoria to survive. After witnessing the horrific murder of his mother, he found a home in an orphanage where the men of God taught him right from wrong. Another lesson he learned, however, is that sometimes what is considered right by some is evil in the eyes of others.

Although lacking super powers, Eric transforms himself into The Bishop to bring his own form of justice and peace to the city. But as he grows physically and spiritually, he finds the lines between of good and evil blurred. Are the heroes doing God’s work or is he? And in the end, will he be the city’s spiritual leader or the world’s most diabolical villain?

The Bishop of Port Victoria by D. Alan Lewis chronicles the life of Eric Raven from orphaned street rat to a bastion of power in his nineties in a collection of intertwining stories.  These nine tales not only feature stunning characters and edge of your seat action, but also explore truly what it means to be a hero and a villainand how a man might just be both.

Lewis’ collection features a stunning cover by Jeff Hayes as well as cover design by Perry Constantine.  Constantine and Adam Lance Garcia formatted the book for print and Russ Anderson designed and formatted the eBook version.  THE BISHOP OF PORT VICTORIA is currently available in print at www.Amazon.com and through Pro Se’s own store at http://tinyurl.com/k6zcgko for $12.00.  It is also available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and www.smashwords.com as an eBook for $2.99.

NEWSPRINT AND GUNSMOKE IN PRO SE PRODUCTIONS' LATEST- NEWSHOUNDS!

Pro Se

Pro Se Productions, known for cutting edge New Pulp and Genre Fiction, takes readers back in time to an idyllic era when wordslingers and shutterbugs stood up for the innocent and undefended!  Newsprint mingles with gunsmoke in Pro Se’s latest anthology- NEWSHOUNDS!

News For All, Justice for the Innocent and Weak! That is the Masthead of The Partisan and the mission of its keepers in Pro Se Productions’ action packed tribute to the printed press- NEWSHOUNDS.

“Newspaper Mystery/Crime Fiction,” says Tommy Hancock, Pro Se Productions Editor in Chief, “is a subgenre that has sort of been lost to the ages.  From the novel ‘Flashgun Casey’ to ‘Call Northside 777’ through the fantastic radio show ‘Nightbeat’ and beyond, mystery solving reporters and two fisted editors walked mean streets for decades, finding dope to put away the guilty and free the innocent.  NEWSHOUNDS is Pro Se’s tribute to both the newspaper field and that wonderful area of fiction full of colorful characters.”

Dogged reporters, crusty editors, copyboys and cub photographers with dreams of grandeur. Pressmen who know the city lives and breathes by what they print.  Characters like Editor ‘Red Dillinger, reporters Viv Bailey and Ted Boland, photographer Margie Haviland, and more all work for The Partisan, a 1950s paper partial to the common man, to righting the wrongs done against the housewives and the blue collars. And this gaggle of hard bitten, hard fighting men and women are known near and far to those who love them and those who wish to see them dead! Do No Wrong in Their City unless you want it covered by the Newshounds.

Authors Kevin Paul Shaw Broden, Shannon Muir, and J. Walt Layne bring life to the chaotic adventures of a larger than life newspaper staff in this three story collection.

Only two types of people work at The Partisan- Those truly interested in standing up for truth and justice and what’s rightand those with a death wish or nowhere else to go.

Either way, they make great stories for Pro Se Productions’ NEWSHOUNDS!

Featuring a cover by Kevin Paul Shaw Broden, cover design and print formatting by Percival Constantine, and EBook formatting by Russ Anderson, NEWSHOUNDS is available in print from Amazon and Pro Se’s own website at www.prose-press.com for $9.00.  The anthology is also available via ebook at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and www.smashwords.com for $2.99.

PRO SE PRODUCTIONS PROCLAIMS JANUARY 2014 REESE UNLIMITED MONTH

Pro Se

Reese Unlimited.png

Pro Se Productions, a cutting edge Publisher of Genre Fiction and New Pulp, announced today that January 2014 would be THE MONTH OF REESE UNLIMITED.  Reese Unlimited is the author imprint of New Pulp creator Barry Reese, the man behind The Rook, Lazarus Gray, and Gravedigger, all well known New Pulp characters.  Reese is also known for his work with licensed properties, from The Avenger to Liberty Girl and multiple Marvel characters, but Reese Unlimited, Pro Se’s first in house imprint, focuses solely on his own concepts and ideas.

“Reese Unlimited,” says Tommy Hancock, Pro Se Partner and Editor in Chief, “is a wonderfully mad corner of Publishing where Barry’s heroes, villains, and over the top tales can live and grow and continue on.   Barry’s characters ring true in so many ways with the concepts of classic heroes, and yet he brings to bear not only a modern relevance, but his own masterful touch to each character and world he creates.   Although one of our most popular imprints featuring several best selling titles for Pro Se, we definitely want to make sure everyone gets a chance to experience Reese Unlimited.  So much so that we’re kicking off the new year by dedicating the month of January to promoting Reese Unlimited every single day.”

Beginning on January 1, 2014, Pro Se Productions will feature a different promotion daily related to REESE UNLIMITED. Also, according to Hancock, a REESE UNLIMITED product will be given away each day.  This will include ebooks as well as signed print editions of Reese’s work, and other specials and items as well.   Also, interviews with Reese as well as excerpts from various titles from the imprint will be a part of the promotion.

To follow the daily promotions beginning New Years Day 2014, go to http://prose-press.com/blog/ and/or like Pro Se Productions on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ProSeProductions.  A daily press release will be created for each promotion and distributed to any and all available outlets as well.

PRO SE PRODUCTIONS DEBUTS NEW DIGITAL LINE

Pro Se

Pro Se Productions, a cutting edge independent Publisher, announced the beginning of a new digital line.   The best short fiction in Genre Fiction and New Pulp will now be available as digital ebook singles through Pro Se Productions’ PRO SE SINGLE SHOT digital imprint.

“There’s nothing like,” says Tommy Hancock, Pro Se’s Editor in Chief, “a really good short story to an avid reader.  And now, thanks to the wonders of eBooks, the ability to pick up one story instead of an entire collection is literally at a fan’s fingertips.  Whether it’s a story from an existing collection, like the first four in the debut of our PRO SE SINGLE SHOT line, or tales to tease an upcoming work, or even short stories exclusive to the imprint, PRO SE SINGLE SHOT lets readers get a taste of New Pulp in easy to read and easy to get bites.”

PRO SE SINGLE SHOT titles will be available for 99 cents via Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords.  Although word count will vary, the featured stories will generally be 15,000 words or less.  Covers for the Ebooks will either be redesigned covers of the full length collections the stories appear in or, for the tales exclusive to the line, newly commissioned works of art.

“PRO SE SINGLE SHOT,” comments Derrick Ferguson, whose story ‘Dillon and the Alchemist’s Morning Coffee’ is one of the four debut singles, “is a great way to get acquainted with what Pro Se is all about without breaking open the piggy bank.  Just as the name implies, it’s a straight shot of pure pulp adventure that’s guaranteed to get your heart pumping and your blood racing.”

To kick off the line, Pro Se Productions has taken four of the best stories from its existing catalog and made them into Pro Se Single Shots. Ferguson’s story, as featured in BLACK PULP, joins Andrea Judy’s ‘The Bone Queen’- the original short story introducing her stunning Pulp villainess in THE PULPTRESS collection, as well as two tales from Barry Reese’s REESE UNLIMITED imprint- ‘Kaslov’s Fire’ from THE ROOK VOLUME 2 SPECIAL EDITION and ‘The Girl with the Phantom Eyes,’ from THE ADVENTURES OF LAZARUS GRAY VOLUME ONE.

“I’m excited,” says Reese, “about this new and affordable way for readers to discover my pulp heroes! Pro Se has done a great job selecting stories that are exciting gateways into these series.”

The first four singles- THE BONE QUEEN, THE GIRL WITH THE PHANTOM EYES, DILLON AND THE ALCHEMIST’S MORNING COFFEE, and KASLOV’S FIRE are now available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords.  Four additional singles will be released the week of Christmas as a second wave in the line’s premiere. After that, at least two new singles will be released every two weeks.

PRO SE SINGLE SHOT titles are formatted by Russ Anderson and the line’s banner/logo is designed by Jeff Hayes.

Author of THE BONE QUEEN, Andrea Judy adds, "I'm very excited to be included, and happy that Pro Se is expanding into this line of ebooks. I think it's amazing."

Review by Paul E. Sponaugle, 5 stars
Excellent stand-alone novel that pays winking tribute to another 40's pulp hero in an fun way. Even without that sly nod, the novel is an excellent two-age story of one person, Liberty Girl, who has to come to grips with something very unusual that happens to her. How it affects her and those around her drives the story without making it a one-gimmick plot. Wonderful story-telling!

WELL KNOWN NEW PULP HERO BRINGS TWO PUBLISHERS TOGETHER FOR EPIC EVENT

Pro Se

Two companies specializing in New Pulp and Genre Fiction announce a joining of forces for a special event.  One company brings an iconic New Pulp character while the other provides a platform aimed at introducing young readers to Genre Fiction.  Pulpwork Press and Pro Se Productions proudly revealed plans for Pro Se’s YoungPulp! imprint to feature Derrick Ferguson’s popular creation, Dillon, in the thrilling digest novel YOUNG DILLON IN THE HALLS OF SHAMBALLAH.

PSP_Table_2.jpg
pulpwork logo.jpg

“You don’t talk about New Pulp,” Tommy Hancock, Partner in and Editor in Chief of Pro Se Production stated, “and not discuss Dillon.  Not only has Derrick breathed life into a hero cast in the classic ‘all man, all adventure’ mold, but also he’s created a character with history, passion, and his own unique aspects.   Dillon has his own swagger and style and, although it reminds a reader of other characters, Derrick makes it all Dillon.   And now, with YOUNG DILLON, readers get to see the boy that grows into the man we all clamor for new stories about.  It’s really exciting to have Derrick bring the world of Dillon to our YoungPulp! line.   With its focus on introducing younger readers to the excitement of adventure Pulp like fiction, YoungPulp! is the perfect venue to tell the stories of Dillon’s early adventures.”

dillon.jpg

Scheduled for release in early 2014, YOUNG DILLON IN THE HALLS OF SHAMBALLAH pulls back the curtain on the past of a modern day hero. Many are the legends that have been told about Dillon, but none are stranger than the whispers of his having been raised in the mythical and eternal city of Shamballah and his training by those deadliest of adepts in the martial arts, the Warmasters of Liguria.

Now, at last, the true story behind those legends can be told.

This is a story of a Dillon and the events and people who would forge him into the man we know.  This is a story of a Dillon in the days before his feet were set on the path that would lead him to the wildest adventures of them all.  And it is itself an incredible adventure in its own right.  This is the story of YOUNG DILLON IN THE HALLS OF SHAMBALLAH. And, once you’ve read it, you and Dillon will never be the same.

“I can truthfully say,” says Ferguson, “with no hyperbole whatsoever that this is totally unlike any Dillon adventure you have ever read.”

YOUNG DILLON IN THE HALLS OF SHAMBALLAH will feature a cover by Sean E. Ali with logo and design work by Percival Constantine.  It will be edited by Hancock and Morgan Minor and formatted by Ali for print publication and Russ Anderson for Ebooks. The book will also feature an introduction by Gary Phillips, noted author of crime tales, comics, and New Pulp.

HARD BOILED ACTION AND MYSTERY IN PRO SE PRODUCTION'S LATEST RELEASE- SENSIBLE REDHORN

Pro Se

Known for cutting edge storytelling and introducing exciting new characters to Genre Fiction, Pro Se Productions announces the debut of the first volume of a two fisted, hard boiled crime reporter like no other-SENSIBLE REDHORN, created and written by Tim Holter Bruckner.

Acts of torture, murder, and blackmail grip a city.  And the man drawn to it, beckoned to observe and report on it, is the only one who may be able to stop it. Sensible Redhorn, a six foot six, three hundred pound crime reporter for the Flashburn Times, has seen evil like no other.  And when that evil wrenches its way into the lives of the people closest to him, he’ll do whatever it takes to keep them safe, regardless of his first name.

“Of all the genres,” Tommy Hancock, Pro Se Editor in Chief, says, “that thrill readers, crime and mystery fiction of the trench coated hard boiled variety is one of the most popular.   And although the ‘tough crime reporter’ has long been a mainstay in that realm of fiction, Tim Bruckner brings something fresh to the table with SENSIBLE REDHORN.  These stories are as much about the people living them as they are about whodunit and what happens.  Tim builds characters, particularly Sensible, in a very gritty, brick at a time way that really works for this collection.”

SENSIBLE REDHORN by Tim Holter Bruckner collects four adventures of the crime reporter living on a razor’s edge.  A colorful cast of eccentric characters also brings humor, intrigue and passion into each compelling tale. A sadistic crime boss hell bent on addicting children to a lethal, flesh rotting drug. An armless man who perverts his own young offspring to a life of crime and murder. The ex-wife of his best friend who is willing to risk the lives of those once dearest to her for corrupting wealth. The return of an estranged brother determined to wrest the highest cost of revenge.

In the center of this maelstrom of malevolence, Sensible Redhorn stays true, steady and determined. Committed to his friends, committed to fairness, committed to the truth. Even if it kills him.

A noted sculptor and artist, this is Bruckner’s first foray into Fiction.  This first collection features a stylistically stunning cover by the author, as well as cover design and formatting by Sean Ali and Ebook formatting by Russ Anderson.

Pro Se Productions proudly presents SENSIBLE REDHORN by Tim Holter Bruckner.  A hard boiled nourish tale of a double barreled wordslinger ready to give it all to protect those close to him. Available at Amazon and Pro Se’s own store (www.prose-press.com) in print and as an Ebook at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords.

If you are a reviewer interested in receiving a digital copy for review or for any questions, interviews with the author, or other business, please contact Morgan Minor, Pro Se’s Director of Corporate Operations at MorganMinorProSe@yahoo.com.  For more information on Pro Se Productions, go to www.prose-press.com and like Pro Se on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ProSeProductions.

PRO SE PRODUCTIONS LICENSE INDEPENDENT FILM CHARACTER AND MOVIE UNIVERSE FOR PRINT

Pro Se

Pro Se Productions, an independent Publisher known for cutting edge Genre Fiction and New Pulp, welcomes a new licensed property into its catalog. A cinematic hero, a Pop Culture Convention fan favorite (particularly in the South) fights his way from an independent film trilogy to novels, anthologies, and collections from Pro Se beginning in 2014.

masonstudios.jpg

In 2010, Mason Studios, an up and coming film company based in Memphis, debuted ‘No More Sorrow’, an action adventure film written and directed by studio founder Josh Mason.  The sequel, No More Sorrow 2: Rebirth was released in 2011.  The main story of these two films revolved around a secret organization of assassins known as The Society whose mission was to rid the world of evil. Essentially a group of peacekeepers. It is the creed of The Society to "create a world in which there is no more Sorrow" (hence the name of the film series). The most lethal assassin in The Society is a figure known by many names throughout his lifetime and made his debut in 2012 in No More Sorrow 3: Whispers in the Dark.  Though his true identity is unknown, those who fear him in the post apocalyptic hell the world becomes in the third film know him as The Honeybadger.

“The Honeybadger,” says Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief of and Partner in Pro Se Productions, “was a character created specifically for the man who played him in the third No More Sorrow film.  Allan Gilbreath, renowned author and the man behind Dark Oak Press (formerly Kerlak Publishing), is a true renaissance type guy and brings that to bear in everything he does.  The Honeybadger is a fun character to cheer for and to watch win against spies, soldiers, zombies, pirates, and pretty much every enemy thrown his way.  Even though he only appears in the third film, he has such a presence and is so much of a mystery that he screams to have more stories, for the curtain to be pulled back on his past.   Not only that, but to get to play in the whole No More Sorrows universe, a world that in the first two films mirrors our own, but by the third has become a post apocalyptic crazy quilt, is just simply going to be fun.”

The films, particularly No More Sorrow 3: Whispers in the Dark, have become fan favorites at various Pop Culture Conventions.  This is due in part to the over the top action and audacity of the films, but also to the fact that Gilbreath is a regular in many capacities at dozens of conventions around the country.

maxresdefault.jpg

THEY CALL HIM THE HONEYBADGER will be the first anthology of the character’s adventures from Pro Se in 2014.  Stories will be ten thousand words in length and can feature the Honeybadger either in his ‘present’, which would be the post apocalyptic setting of the third film or in his ‘past’, as far back as his early days as an assassin.  Other characters from the film series will also be available to be featured in the stories as the authors see fit.   A bible will be provided to all authors interested in proposing stories.  All authors whose proposals are accepted will receive the three films from Mason Studios for story research purposes.  A trailer for the third film featuring the Honeybadger can be seen at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdX_Aks8Mjc.

“When I created the Honeybadger character for my No More Sorrow 3 film,” Josh Mason states, “I just knew Allan Gilbreath was going to make a cameo and I had to give him the most awesome character I could possibly conceive.  However, not a lot of thought went into the character’s backstory or who he really was.  That is why I’m super excited for the character to come to books and to see what the team of authors at Pro Se comes up with. The No More Sorrows universe is a rich one and I can’t wait to see other creative minds expand upon it.”

If interested in proposing a story for THEY CALL HIM THE HONEY BADGER, submit a request for the concept bible to Morgan Minor, Pro Se’s Director of Corporate Operations at MorganMinorProSe@yahoo.com by December 10th, 2013.  Bibles will be sent out to those who request them and proposals (1-3 paragraphs in length) will be due by January 1st, 2014.  Deadline for submission of the story will be March 15th, 2014 with publication tentatively scheduled for May 2014.

BARRY REESE'S DARING 'RABBIT HEART' RETURNS TO PRINT FROM PRO SE!

Pro Se

Pro Se Productions, a leading independent Publisher known for producing work on the cutting edge of Genre Fiction, proudly announces the return to print of noted Author Barry Reese's most controversial and groundbreaking work- RABBIT HEART.

Barry Reese, author and creator of The Rook, The Adventures of Lazarus Gray, and the Adventures of Gravedigger, takes the battle for good and evil to a completely different level. Known for his Pulp work, Reese pushes his own boundaries for this groundbreaking tale of action and adventure, sex and violence, discovery and death.

The time of the Hunt is nigh... Fiona Chapman was dead. However, though her heart still beat and she breathed oxygen, she was no longer like the rest of humanity. Fiona was now one of The Furious Host, a race of mythical spirits who, in Archetype Form, rage through the centuries hunting for innocent victims to slake their thirst for blood. However, Fiona's desire is different: she craves the destruction of the Host themselves. In her Archetype Form she begins her own hunt to put an end to the evil of centuries. Now the evil has descended on the small town of Milledgeville, Georgia in the form of Urhl, one of the bloodiest of killers. Young women are being murdered in the most savage fashion imaginable. With the aid of legendary occult investigator Ascott Keane, Fiona Chapman embarks on a blood-soaked battle to the death with the ultimate serial killer!

"Rabbit Heart," says Reese, "is unlike anything else I've ever written. It's the most personal work, featuring all the nasty little secrets that I usually don't share with the world. Super hardcore in both violence and sex, it allowed me to depart from my mostly PG-13 pulp adventure stories and do something that truly frightened my friends and family. I have fans of this book who wouldn't touch pulp with a ten-foot pole and I think it shows the world that I choose to write New Pulp... but it's by no means the only thing I can do."

One of Reese’s most popular titles, RABBIT HEART is a cutting edge exploration of the basest fears and needs everyone feels. Available in print at Amazon and Barnes and Noble as well as as an ebook from Barnes and Noble and coming soon digitally from Amazon and Smashwords, RABBIT HEART features a cover by Jason Levesque with an all new cover design by Sean Ali as well as print formatting by Ali and ebook design by Russ Anderson.  FOR MATURE READERS.

'THE BONE QUEEN' BY ANDREA JUDY NOW AVAILABLE FROM PRO SE PRODUCTIONS

Pro Se

In 2011, Pro Se Productions, now a leading publisher of New Pulp and Genre Fiction, debuted a new character initially as a live spokesmodel to promote both the company and New Pulp in general-The Pulptress. Proving popular in the New Pulp Community, the Pulptress appeared in her own volume of adventures by various writers in 2012. One story and one character besides The Pulptress within that volume in particular captured the minds, tongues, and hearts of fans so completely that she now comes to life in her own digest novel.

Pro Se Productions proudly announces the upcoming release of THE BONE QUEEN, a digest novel by Andrea Judy. Judy, a contributor to the original THE ADVENTURES OF THE PULPTRESS collection, titled that short story ‘The Bone Queen’, but the new book is something more. It is that most hallowed of stories-The Bone Queen’s origin.

"Readers," Tommy Hancock, Partner in Pro Se Productions and Editor in Chief, states," love villains. We cheer for the hero, but when the villain is engaging and stands out, we want more. We need to see not only how bad they can be, but why they're the all kinds of evil they are. THE BONE QUEEN is Andrea Judy's answer to all the questions and requests about the character she first spun for a fight against The Pulptress. This digest novel not only gives the origin of one of the most interesting antagonists in New Pulp, but it shows how someone who fully believes they are right can so easily become what is wrong."

From the Pages of THE PULPTRESS Comes A Villain Like No Other.

All of humanity shares one inescapable experience, one inevitable fate.

They all die.

And in death, one woman finds her destiny. To be a Villain, to stand toe to toe with the ultimate heroine, The Pulptress.

But first, evil had to rise from somewhere dark.

Renata, a devotee of Mene, Goddess of Death, is on a singular mission during the era of the Black Death: to kill the Necromancer who is bringing the dead back as chiffoniers, rag and bone men. With a small band of men who have survived the Plague, Renata must find who is attempting to steal away the power of death and destroy them once and for all. Chiffoniers dog them every step of the way.

And when death itself finally comes for Renata, everything changes. Once hunted, she becomes the hunter, tracking down the necromancer at any cost to herself and those around her.

May The Gods Help Us All.

I’ve always loved the villains in a story,” says Judy, “so I was thrilled to have the chance to tell a story from a darker point of view, showing the reader where a villain came from. It was a struggle at times to write, to remember that this wasn't a story about light overcoming the dark, but about embracing that darkness. I’ve had an amazing time working with Pro Se getting this book together, and I’m thrilled to share it with the world!”

THE BONE QUEEN, featuring an absolutely gorgeous cover by Ariane Soares, an artist with Fitztown, and format and design by Sean Ali and Tommy Hancock as well as Digital Formatting by Russ Anderson, is now available in print on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. The digest novel is also available for the Kindle, the Nook, and for most formats through www.smashwords.com.

COVER REVEALED FOR UPCOMING SILVER MANTICORE COLLECTION FROM PRO SE

Pro Se

SilverManticorecoverfinala.jpg

A popular New Pulp character makes his return to print from Pro Se Productions very soon and he’s bringing company with him!   Today, Pro Se Productions, a leading New Pulp publisher, reveals the cover of the upcoming follow up to its best selling STING OF THE SILVER MANTICORE.

THE SILVER MANTICORE: FRIENDS AND FOES by PJ Lozito is a collection of stories focusing on the heroes and villains, the sidekicks and henchmen that surround the mysterious masked crimefighter known as The Silver Manticore.  The  cover, wonderfully rendered by Pro Se Artist Adam Shaw, is reminiscent of classic Pulp covers.  It features not only the Manticore himself prominently, but members of the legions of good and evil ready to fight one another for or against the masked man.

“This cover,” says Tommy Hancock, Pro Se Editor in Chief, “could very well have graced a Pulp cover in the 1930s or 40s.  Adam brings such a classic touch to his work, showing his clear appreciation for the Golden Age Pulp art.  The way he works with the colors, too, makes the image seem to move.  Shadows move across the Manticore’s face and the action in the foreground seems to bubble with life.   The stories in the collection are PJ’s homage to the Pulp heroes he’s loved and Adam’s cover is a great tip of the fedora to the covers of a bygone era.”

THE SILVER MANTICORE: FRIENDS AND FOES will be available in the coming weeks from Pro Se Productions.  Lozito’s first novel, STING OF THE SILVER MANTICORE is available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and wherever fine books are sold.

For more information or interviews with those involved with this work, contact Morgan Minor, Pro Se’s Director of Corporate Operations, at MorganMinorProSe@yahoo.com.  To learn more about Pro Se Productions, go to www.prose-press.com and like Pro Se on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ProSeProductions.

COVER REVEALED-The Bishop of Port Victoria Coming Soon from Pro Se Productions

Pro Se

Pro Se Productions, a leading Publisher of Genre Fiction and New Pulp, reveals today the cover of an upcoming collection of stories featuring a city first debuted in Pro Se’s best selling BLACK PULP anthology.  Coming soon- The tale of a City of Heroes and Villains. And the man who may be neither or both!

THE BISHOP OF PORT VICTORIA by D. Alan Lewis is a story collection featuring Lewis’ self-created burg of super powers and mysteries, Port Victoria!

TheBishopofPortVictoriaa.jpg

THE BISHOP OF PORT VICTORIA chronicles the life of Eric Raven from orphaned street rat to a bastion of power in his nineties in a collection of intertwining stories.  Set in the city Lewis debuted in Pro Se Productions’ ground breaking Black Pulp anthology, these two fisted tales not only feature stunning characters and edge of your seat action, but also explore truly what it means to be a hero and a villainand how a man might just be both.

With stories centered on the city and what it takes to be its savior or destroyer, Pro Se Productions insured the cover not only represented the collection, but also showcased the title character as well as others.  Rendered stunningly by Pro Se artist Jeff Hayes based on a concept developed by Lewis, the cover features the Bishop looming over his city while in the foreground stand a trio of women, all part of a family line of heroes that call the Port home.

“The contrast of light and dark,” Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief of Pro Se Productions states, “is as evident on the cover as it is in the stories inside.  Heroism stands shiny and bright, even when it may not be. And the darkness overhead, though threatening, could be just the cure for what ails a whole city.  Jeff's cover in so many ways captures the essence of the collection in every way.”

BISHOP OF PORT VICTORIA is scheduled for release in the coming weeks.  For information on this work or interviews with those involved, contact Morgan Minor, Pro Se’s Director of Corporate Operations, at MorganMinorProSe@yahoo.com.  To learn more about Pro Se go to www.prose-press.com.  And like Pro Se on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ProSeProductions.

HEROIC PUBLISHING'S 'LIBERTY GIRL' FLIES INTO PROSE FROM PRO SE

Pro Se

The Bronze Goddess of Freedom Flies Again thanks to two Companies known for independent creations and innovative storytelling.  LIBERTY GIRL by Barry Reese, adapted from and based on works by Dennis Mallonee, is now available from Pro Se Productions via a license with Heroic Publishing.

Pro Se, a leader in New Pulp and Action/Adventure Fiction, and Heroic Publishing, a force in independent comics since the mid-1980s, proudly announce the debut of the first volume of adventures featuring one of Heroic’s best known characters- Liberty Girl.

Liberty Girl
By Barry Reese

The Liberty Girl is a World War II heroine ripped from her glory days and rocketed forward in time to today, where she’s needed more than ever!   Noted Pulp and Genre Fiction Author Barry Reese adapts Comic Creator and Publisher Dennis Mallonee’s debut Liberty Girl Mini Series into a prose novella.  Also included in this volume is an original Liberty Girl short story penned by Reese.  The book also opens with an introduction provided by Comic Book Legend Roy Thomas, the creator behind All Star Squadron, Infinity Inc., and more.

“It’s a really big deal,” Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief of and Partner in Pro Se Productions, says, “when two companies from different aspects of the publishing arena, especially two independents known for their own unique stories and styles, bring the best they have together to produce landmark work.  LIBERTY GIRL is just that.  Arguably one of Heroic’s most recognized characters has now been interpreted and realized in prose by one of Pro Se’s- and to be honest, one of Genre Fiction’s- most talented authors.  Barry embraces the groundwork that Dennis built in the Liberty Girl comic series and builds a wonderful tapestry of heroism, power, and hope in what is truly one of the best works Pro Se has ever produced.”

“Sometimes,” Hancock continues, “everything just falls in place for a book.  The right concept, the right writer to not only handle transition from comics to prose, but to create a brand new story for the book as well, and the right voice to weigh in on such a character with an introduction.  Roy Thomas, the man who is responsible at least in part for me –and quite a few others, I know- pursuing my dreams to write, kicks off Pro Se’s LIBERTY GIRL with just the right words to set the mood for the stories to follow.  And then wrap that in an absolutely stunning cover by the ever-talented Jeff Hayes, and this book- there is no other word.  LIBERTY GIRL is the perfect storm of books.”

Edited by Thomas Fortenberry and Morgan Minor, LIBERTY GIRL is now available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble in print and in Ebook at Amazon for the Kindle, at Barnes & Noble for the Nook, and in most formats at www.smashwords.com.

In coming weeks, Pro Se will announce more Heroic projects, including another Liberty Girl centered book as well as an anthology featuring another one of Heroic’s best known super heroines, Flare.
